FontForge is the only competent free one I've seen, although it's bloody complicated

Wait do you mean Fontstruct.com?
I think that's a website where you can make your own fonts for free but you you have to sign up
Yeah I wanted to make my own fonts and I asked this awhile ago and the only good one I found was FontForge and that was for Linux or something
I would have joined Fontstruct but I don't feel like signing up for random websites
But I think it's good for beginners

Making fonts is pretty cool, I have a book on digital calligraphy (from 2003, so not so recent ). It suggests Fontlab and Fontographer, which offers free demos, and if you're not planning to make a lot of fonts you could try it.

Try FontStruct. It is awesome, fast and you don't have to install anything! And I think Windows fonts do work in Linux. (They do for me anyway.)
