Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

jslomba, since you are online, have you done the drum tracks for Blissful Rapture?

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

Hey guys, I'm really sorry for the delay on the Blissful Rapture drum track. They've been doing lots of construction work near my house, and the noise outside makes it impossible to record anything without lots of background noise. Feel free to use the MIDI drum track you were mentioning, since I probably won't get a chance to get a good recording anytime soon.

Well, I'll see if I can record drums though I don't have the set atm. Or else, techno, any way you can record?

I don't play drums. Well, other that jamming in a tiny kids' kit at times, but no, I don't play, or have decent samples either.  tongue

LOL, but can't you install Addictive Drums again and try that out, 'cause I don't want to resort to a MIDI unless we really have to?  neutral

Don't have it around  hmm  Maybe we could take samples from one of jsl's actual tracks, to then use them in a tracker or a VST plugin. This one FL Studio plugin can do this, forgot the name. This way it'll sound consistent with the other tracks. Only problem I can think of is the compression of the recording messing up the sampled track, we'll have to actually try that.

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

If you can do that, it'll be great. However, I'm not too sure about the compression as well. We might end up with a worse result than jslomba's recordings. Anyway, do try and see what you can do about it.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't mention this earlier, but is there absolutely no chance of you getting hold of Addictive Drums again and re-installing it?

I tried it here. It's not authentic sounding as when jslomba actually plays it...but it beats the usual midi. What do you think?

Hmm, is it on tempo and to the melody? Seems a decent job; when I have the time to mix it with my rest of the mix I made. Thanks for this.

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

I just finished merging hpotter's drum sampling track with the rest of the Blissful Rapture mix I'd created prior to this and it is sounding great so far. My vocals and all instruments are complete, but I still await Mari's vocal track (which through our Tumblr chats, she said she may possibly finish this week). Then the single will be ready to release (it's definitely sounding the best one yet). Great collaboration, techno, thanks for contributing ideas to my song.

'Ellipsis' is also sounding fabulous and with the minor edits, it will sure surpass our work thus far.  big_smile

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

hpotter, have you checked out my e-mail? If you haven't, please do so soon and send me a reply. Hope you can do them soon.

And please do not share the message here by any means as I don't want those links to my songs shared with the public (I still dunno if it is going into my solo work or not;  the very best I'll keep for myself, but that depends on how the songs will sound when FC records it). Really we shouldn't be sharing any of our Noteflight scores from now on, even if they are composed specially for the band as our fans should definitely not be able to have a listen to the MIDI before the songs are actually released.

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

If you're not going to release the Noteflights, can you at least release some sort of sheet music perhaps in a PDF as a bonus file included with the album download when it comes out? I'd love to play the songs myself too.

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

I haven't checked out hpotter's sampled track until now. It sounds pretty decent - at least enough to assure that it'll work after a bit of polishing.

The most noticeable flaw is that the snare is too quiet, I'd use a stronger snare hit sample. Maybe one from the latest tracks (OOtP etc).

You could also make it sound a bit less machine-like with some humanizing - essentially randomizing the velocity levels a bit, and moving some notes randomly (by miliseconds). I know that FL Studio has this feature.

I'll see if I can make a sampled track myself in FL9 this week, but that's in an old beat up notebook that tends to crash with intensive applications like FL Studio, so I can't guarantee anything.  tongue

I see nothing against this, as long as there's demand for sheet music - and I'm sure there will be.

Alright, cool! I really like playing along with your guys' songs, as they're pretty fun to play.  smile

hpotter, could you please reply to my e-mail...

I don't want to delay the recordings further because if they are, I'll be recording all the songs I linked you to on my own and those will be going into my solo album instead.

Sorry it's taken me forever to get back to you. Lot's of stuff's going on. The program I use is "Hydrogen Drum Machine", if you want, you can do the drum samples yourself...it's not that hard, but it takes a while.

I'll see if I can do them myself if I have time with the trips I'm still making, solo album recording etc. And please record guitar for the songs I told you to...

It's about bass recordings; I seriously doubt you need to see that. And you seem to be able to reply to these but not my questions about recording/drum sampling...  hmm

Yeah, very true.  tongue  When will you be able to record you reckon? No pressure mate, just asking.  smile  So sorry to hear the troubles you're having.

Re: Frozen Coco - The Online Rock Band

I still can't give a definite date; we ideally should get our Internet in a week or two, but our economic situation has been quite unstable lately  hmm  After that it'll be a matter of setting up a basic Ubuntu Linux audio rig, and I'll record all necessary tracks.
