It shows that adding a D point only allows for 2 triangles unless you halve them (which should be ignored in this discussion).Uh, I don't think you get it. Look at Audi0Slave's picture
I see atleast 4 triangles in that picture. Without the little ones, there's just two.
It's not trying to make a square or bisect the angle. And the altitude has to intersect the hypotenuse perpendicularly.

Given a right triangle ABC, where angle ABC is the right angle, if you make a point D on AB (the hypotenuse).

Totally.
I know I'll correct it. I'll link to Audi0Slave's picture too.
EDIT: Fixed.

This is true, we're doing it right now. Scary how we're at the same place in the book.

I figured this out by myself. *beams*
But you say that it's been discovered? What class are you taking, and what do they call the theorem?

I don't know what the theorem is called. I'm in a class simply called 'Geometry' and we use a purple book with a ferris wheel on the cover.

If you need help, I'm sure the community will be more than happy to help you. You should make your own thread though, probably in Things I'm Reading and Playing.

Nothanks
I like drawing flowers with my compass.
I'm fairly good at German geometry (I just don't get the English geometry vocabulary.
The Americans also don't have this. It's EXTREMELY useful.

Oh. We either have to do without protractors, or use a tiny protractor that comes with a much larger, terrible unorthodox compass.

In Germany you even have to buy textbooks.
Also, that stuff is standard. You can get the notepad things for¢20 each
Geodreieck for€2
Ruler for 50¢
Pencil for ¢20
Compass for $10

We have to buy our textbooks too. >.> Hopefully next year there will be more of our textbooks on iPad. My logic for why this is better is really simple:
I take my iPad everywhere.
I leave my textbooks in my locker unless I need them for homework.
If I had my textbooks on my iPad, I would take them with me everywhere I go. Of course, I still would need to look at my textbook, but I can't look at them in my locker. Also, it would be much lighter.

We don't have to buy our textbooks. I have always taken that for granted--looks like I shouldn't have.
