I recommend you change the graphics for the views/love-its/etc. section, it looks pretty bad to me. The rest looks amazing though. I think backpack is a nice, friendly-feeling name for that feature.

how about  like facebook where:
+you can like comments
+have a special "thanks" button, instead of getting the message "you've posted a similar message recently"

I wrote this on the comments, but thought it would be good to put in the thread, too.

I wrote:

Hmmm... The screenshot has a grey "say" block. I hope that's just a beta quirk.

"See inside" sounds kind of weird, too. How about just "Open in editor"?

The remixes/related boxes look funky when empty. How about a remix box that only shows if there are remixes?

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

One question from a new user: Does the new Scratch will require a web connection when we work on it? Because many peole like me cant use IE connection 12 months in a year.

Anyway this project seems to be very good.

No; there will be a downloadable offline version of the project editor.  smile

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

I think that it definently should be "clipboard". I think that scratch should dispense of as much cutsey bubbles and frills as possible. Scratch is supposed to prepare kids for programming, and the look of 1.4 is perfect, IMO. Because you need to balance the ease of use with the level of proffesionality.

I also think there should be a preferences menu where you can switch to the look of 1.4 while still using the new blocks and the online and all that.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

Hey Guys!

I've come up with a user-interface design that incorporates the "backpack" idea with another I had, while reducing the space used in the project editor, and keeping with a general layout that is not too different from old Scratch.

View it here: http://i.imgur.com/xVIaZ.png

The new additions and changes are in green.

I hope the Scratch team will consider this layout. The project editor shown in this thread seems overly kiddish in my opinion, and will only be tedious to use for older Scratchers.

Who likes my design? http://i.imgur.com/xVIaZ.png

EDIT:

after reading this whole thread, I feel safe to say what I really think

in a constructive sort of friendly way, your design is UGLY  lol

I like the 1.4 interface the best, TBH.

Nice!  I'm not sure about the idea of increasing the stage size though--what about projects from 1.4 and earlier?  How would those work?

When you open them, the script-area and sprite-area expand so that the stage is 480x360 again.  smile

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

I'm making it into something that looks like a real mockup!

Its only half finished, I will add the rest of the buttons later, but it really brings the design to life.

Sweet, I like it so far! It's the software, not the online editor, correct?

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

It seems to me like the current alpha design "flipped" the layout just for the sake of flipping it...

I added more details to my design: > > click here < <

I'll have it finished tomorrow probably.
