Triggers will be for hat blocks, and sensing will be very similar to the way it is now.

Control takes up a lot of space with the Hat Blocks (and the upcoming clone blocks I expect to be added), so it's a reasonable change.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

I love it, It looks very nice and clean, I also love the new feature where it says "Credits".

Also when you click "look inside" does that mean I have to download it and then see it or will it show on the webpage.

When you click "look inside", the project's scripts and sprites will all appear on the webpage -- no downloading involved.  smile

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

this is very nice. A lot has happened since I last checked up on this stuff.
I have a question though, are you going to implement a stretch effect?
If you don't have a stretch effect in 2.0, I really want a good reason why not.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

I heard you're using clone blocks or something, will it be like Panther or BYOB 3? Difference:

Panther was very simple, you made a clone, destroyed it and that was that. With BYOB 3 each clone had it's own window, meaning you had to make the clone before the game had started to edit it, which was really confusing. It was way too complicated, and to make matters worse I couldn't use it for any games I wanted to make. I hope you don't go for the latter.

Can you say more about why you are having nightmares about it? This is really interesting.  smile

We've noticed that anytime a large online community makes a change - especially a big one - there are many people who are upset by it. That is bound to happen in our case too, but it would help us prepare people for the change if we knew more about why they are afraid of a change (even if they've hardly seen the new version).

So can you explain why?

Actually, BYOB 3.1 has a pretty good control over clones — better than Panther, if I may say so. In BYOB 3.1, a clone is a reported value. You can set a variable to a clone. Then you can use that variable to reference to clone, running scripts, setting properties, etc. of the clone. Finally, you destroy it with a [delete (object [myself v])] call. It's beautiful (complicated, but still).

Re: Scratch 2.0 Project Page and Project Editor

sorry, but i still find Panther better. it ran the exact same way as the stamp method did, and new scratchers would understand it. If scratch team want to keep this a child-friendly site, then using Panther's method would be the smart way to go. If you want to over complicate it then remember that's whats the mods are for. Do you want scratch to be too complicated? The panther version is SIMPLE. it uses pretty much the same script as a stamp. You don't need the extra "parent clones" and "child clones" and all that other stuff that messed it all up. PERIOD.

In the context of OO it's like buying and keeping an object( a pencil for example) you have the object but no way of communicating or referencing it personally (any pencils that you bought would also receive the broadcasts)

On Mod Share I have the original city game I made, http://modshare.tk/view/120116214805 which uses close and works fine. When a clone touches a tornado, it disappears and resets a load of variables. When you are driving, if you are not touching the road-clones, you crash and die and the drive mode ends. Clearly the clones do work on Panther, you CAN interact with them.
