what about a >10000 thing
It would show if someone's been on for really long
That's part of what they're trying to stop, the politics of it. So, people would still want to reach 10,000. The 100, 500 and 1000 seems the best, as it helps you understand how long someone's been on, without bragging about it.

The way I see it, this is security through censorship.
You don't want spamming, so just remove the post counts etc. I understand the spamming part, and have seen many cases of it. But I think that this is the wrong path. Instead of making the innocent and guilty suffer, maybe you could make a minimum character limit. So if it's less than say, 15-20 characters, it can't be posted. It will stop spam, because if you have nothing to say, it will be pretty hard to come up with something to say. I think that recently there have been lots of new things that destroy the innocent and guilty, instead of just the guilty.

yes
but 10000 helps someone understand how long they've been on, too
<1000 could be anything from a scratcher who registered like 4 months ago to someone with 20000 posts and is really well known. For me, grouping a bunch of people into "<1000 posts" just doesn't seem right.

Are you going to do this to the TBGs as well?

Either way, post count doesn't matter. Well known posters/Scratchers aren't known for their post count, but for the content they include in posts.

Nope, this is only affecting the main forums.
Unless they specifically say so, the main forums and and TBGs are completely different and don't have the same features like the new blocks.

Looking at some other posts in this thread: I think there is a *ton* of spam on these forums, it's just not obvious. I see people asking for help on something and then people reply "Sorry, I don't know how" which doesn't help the topic owner at all and just adds to the poster's post count. Doing that, in my opinion, is spamming.
Maybe we should work on some posting guides? Just to try to define spam and maybe get some better posts out of it.

Oh snap.
Ohhhhh snappppp.
There's still a way to see how many posts you have.

Yeah, you can see it in your profile, but the Scratch Team knows about it.

I remember these topics appearing in the "Misc" a lot, it was really annoying. This is a good addition!
