Hey I'm mshul and I can't seem to figure out how to make a project so any help would be great! Thanks!
Welcome to Scratch. Mshul
Have you downloaded the Scratch program off the first page? If not, download it now.
There is a useful gallery of tutorial projects here, and there is also help on the support page
It may take a few days to get used to the basics, but if you need help on a specific thing, feel free to ask in the forums

I am very sorry for the way you have been treated. No one deserves to be treated that way. Please do not dwell on it though, it will only bring you down further. When people treat me unkindly, I try to blow their minds and "kill them with kindness". Do the opposite of what they are expecting you to do. Smile constantly. Speak to people "hi, how are you today?" "May I get that door for you?" "Have a great day!". It is fun to do and you get the last laugh. God Bless you and have some fun.

Hi my kids have got into Scratch and since it looks very good I wanted to make sure I could help them with it.
I just made a very simple game but already have got stuck with a couple of things.
The game is here
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Plantagenet/732456
One niggly problem is that my GAME OVER and LEVEL COMPLETE messages re-appear when clicking the greenflag to start again.
The script I have for these sprites starts with a "HIDE" instruction but they still appear.
What am I doing wrong?
EDIT
Its OK I've sussed it.
I think it was appearing because the variable was still at 0.
So I added a "wait" 1 sec to let it reset to the start position and the problem went away.

Hello! Lyuba got me started on Scratch. I hope to be able to use Scratch to learn how to make games. I own a couple websites, and hope to get better games up on them. I have some brain damage, but a high IQ, but can't always access what I know. This in turn makes it harder for me to challenge my higher thinking part of my brain, and then that part of my brain wants to make the rest of my brain go to sleep, because its bored. I found that programming helps stop that process, even though I not very good at. I hope Scratch will get me over the problems I have with making games from the scratch. (pun not intended. )
I'm using Scratch on Ubuntu 9.04, but will get Ubuntu 9.10 installed on Saturday. Thus...I might have some issues that others don't have. I also have WINE, but haven 't use it yet, and don't know how well Scratch for PC would work within WINE.

Hey Kyteroo I hope Scratch does help you get over the disabiltities. Anyhoo, lets thanks Lyuba for getting you started on scratch . Scratch is a wonderful website, it has a Above the nice average, and scratch may not be perfect, but ask others around and you'll find its really close to it . So do you know you basic programming skills?

Hello guys, the name's dnd. I've done a bit of work in VB and Java, plus a bit of time fooling around in programs like MMF2 and FPS Creator. This doesn't look like it's as powerful as what I'm used to, but it's pretty [removed by moderator] fast I gotta say.

Greetings on Halloween (Boo!)
I saw Scratch at a great presentation during the MassCUE Conference at Foxboro, MA (USA) this week and am ready to get started. My install ran into an immediate problem, though. I am running Kubuntu 8.04 (Linux) and the .deb installer tells me I have a missing "libcairo2" dependency. Synaptic tells me it is installed. Any ideas?
[update] It looks like the libcairo2 library in 8.04 is not new enough. My computer also has a dual-boot with Ubuntu 9.04 and the installer worked great there. I'll soon be trying the "latest and greatest" with brand new Ubuntu/Kubuntu 9.10 and will report back about my installs there, too.
