Video Feed

I think it would be good to add a new tab for camera and have like a recording button, and a stop, and like other things and a video camera feed like the volume, adding the camera to it. Like...

when gf clicked
repeat until <(time of camera feed) = [160]>
    record video
end
say [ARE YOU READY TO PLAY?!]
broadcast [play button v]

Re: Video Feed

ummmm, no. This may confuse new Scratchers and I'm not quite sure this would work very well, and it would make Scratch too much like Youtube and such.

Re: Video Feed

This would change Scratch completely... Therefore, I do not support.

Re: Video Feed

I too don't understand this "video feed" thing...
There's a section about videos in "READ THIS BEFORE SUGGESTING ANYTHING":

13. Videos in Scratch

Thanks to cheddargirl for the idea and two links that saved a lot of time.

You may want to import a video to use as your background or sprite as Gayle put it. Here's his post:

I am trying to import a digital video to be used as the background or as a sprite. I have tried both the Quicktime and mp4 file formats without any luck. Is there a secret decoder ring for this?

andresmh himself replied:

Importing video is not supported in Scratch yet.

However, from what you describe, it seems that you want to have a video of something that loops, such as water, playing on the stage. What I would do is go to a video editing tool and extract 10 or 20 representative frames and export them into JPG. Then, import them in Scratch as background costumes and create a forever loop where you just keep showing the next background over and over.

Stop motion animation works well. It can be seen here as one example.
There's another thread about the subject, in which kevin_karplus stated:

kevin_karplus wrote:

MP3 sound clips are already taking up too much space in many projects. Video clips would make the problem much worse.  I vote against video clips as taking up too much space while providing too little benefit for programmers.

Music is a large problem, which can be seen easily - there are many suggestions asking for more space... (which is resolved! I'll add it someday) imagine video size.

To put it best, videos take up too much space. Stop motion works, but each background/costume can build up a lot of space. Be cautious.

Re: Video Feed

Get Panther...although it's not very fit for recording videos but it uses the camera.
