Ohai, I remember you
I once made a pixelart say 'Derp' on it. White, and the word 'derp.' nothing else.

Well, any basic art program will do. Personally, I use MS Paint or even the image editor in Scratch.

MS Paint, really? That's perhaps my least favorite image editing tool ever.

^This.
There's no need for fancy editor to do pixel art. You could do pixel art in a fancy editor like GIMP or Photoshop instead of MS Paint or Scratch, but that's honestly like trying to kill a fly with a nuclear bomb instead of a fly swatter - in other words, doable but not practical.

I like gimp the best. I use GIMP instead of MS paint because the windows 7 version of MS paint is terrible
If I had the old Paint I would use that.

Yay cheddargirl! I can't wait to get the old one! (That sounds odd, doesn't it?)

I actually make my pixel art in Scratch - Paint.NET is hard to use and blurs the finished product.
