Is it possible to take good nature photos with a point-and-shoot camera? It's the only camera I can afford.
It is possible, but with those lenses, you won't get *fantastic* photos, just decent ones.
This is what I have in terms of photography so far: http://imgur.com/a/j2ITB#0
I use a Pentax K100D and have two lenses, one of which dates back to the 1980s, when my mom had a FILM camera. The camera I use is my mom's, so I'm thinking of getting my own camera soon (when I can afford one)!

If you have a steady hand and reasonably good focus for the camera (plus a good eye and stuff like that). If your hand is shaky or something, try this.

Point and shoots will give fine shots! It all depends on the photographer! I've seen epic shots from a point and shoot

I never said you couldn't get good shots with point and shoots! But you'd never catch a professional photographer dead with one, because they certainly do have their limits and very often won't take photos nearly as well as [d]slrs.

I think I'll buy a point-and-shoot to practice, and if it becomes a long-term hobby and I have the funds, I'll buy a DLSR.

Certainly true! Any point and shoot image would have been better if it had been taken with a SLR
I wish I had one XD

I found a list of good budget point-and-shoots on CNET, narrowed it down to 3, then put them into a comparer tool.
I don't have enough experience to see what's good and what's bad.
Can someone have a look at this and give me some advice?
About 1/3 of the time I don't know what it's talking about.

I'd say the Canon. Very good image quality is standard in most Canons. Sony make bad cameras. Kodak should stick to film, although the extra zoom on that one is tempting.

Good idea! Just keep in mind that taking photos with a DSLR is a completely different practice - there's a lot of things you have to worry about with them that Point and Shoots just don't care about.

It's great.
