I'm entering this little wee contest for a canada day poster. It is supposed to commemorate the war of 1812.

The theme:
War of 1812: fight for freedom
or something.
So I need some decent propoganda that is either 1812 or undefined. I plan on making my own version.

You mean like propaganda saying the War of 1812 is cool, bro?
Like:
"THE WAR OF 1812!!! We +1'd 1811's war for the best one yet!"

I'm just wondering. How does the war of 1812 relate to Canada?

Because the British colony known as Canada fought in it (and won)?
Interestingly, that makes Canada the only country to have won a war against the US.

Won, I don't know. Repelled attacking forces, yes. The War of 1812 is technically considered a stalemate, although Britain (including Canada) were probably more winners than the Americans.
If you want to actually win, make it sound like you held out against all odds and this 3-pronged attack that happened. (which was real, good source here if you'd like

But Canada (Britain) didn't, or else we would be British.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the war wasn't to gain land - there were many reasons, but that wasn't one of them.
I don't pretend to know a lot on the subject, either - but I'd been told that Canada won the war.

OK, I can shed some light on the subject here.
Canada was a colony of the British at the time of the War of 1812. The Americans were looking for a place to try to strike a blow at the British when the war kicked off, and they thought Canada would be a good area to attack because it was sparsely populated. However, when the Americans attacked, they were beaten back because they simply didn't have the military strength they thought they did.
Hope this makes things a bit more clear as far as what actually happened.

Well, apparently I'm one of 37% of Canadians who believe they won the war of 1812. 9% of Canadians claim the US won, 15% believe it was a draw, and 39% didn't know about the war of 1812.
What about the percent that didn't care?
