I don't remember the name, but it was a book with many stories in it, from different authors. Cats played a big role and people had psychic problems ... It was very sad

Those weren't really sad until the end of the last book. By the last chapter, literally everyone (except Grike) dies, but that's only because it takes place centurys after. But Grike/Shrike/Kit Solent lives, and he's my fav character, so it's not that sad.
...
I spelled "centuries" wrong.

The Giver was kind of sad
Not the saddest book ever, but I thought it was sad at parts
I read The Giver. It actually makes you think a lot about morality. I recommend reading the loose sequels (Gathering Blue and Messenger).

As for Harry Potter, I was sad when Fred died
But it's not sad on the whole
To me, it was more shock. I mean really, he wasn't even that major of a character. He's comic relief, yet they flesh him out. It makes you feel sorry for him when he dies. What's funny is that I cared nothing about Dumbledore's death. At all.

I Dont See The Problem With That
it may have just been the caps censor anyway
the oaken throne had a very sad ending
like it was sad
then it got sadder
after that it was especially sad
and when i read it again i saw a few words i missed that made it so terribly tragic
(ironically those words were "ray of hope")

All Summer in a Day [okay it's technically a short story but still the saddest thing ever--you can go find it on the Internet and I guarantee you will agree]

Where the Red Fern Grows was soooooo sad.
Never read Bridge to Terabithia, but I heard that the girl dies or something?
