Hey, sandbox games still need a story to drive them!
And people can just calm down at me please! I was just having an opinion!

Re: Minecraft Review (PC)

Look, if a sandbox game has a story, it's not a sandbox game. That's what makes minecraft a sandbox game. All the cons you listed are intended features that make a sandbox game a sandbox game. If any one of those features wasn't there, it wouldn't be a sandbox game. And I like minecraft because I prefer sandbox games.

Re: Minecraft Review (PC)

I agree with everyone else that you fail horribly.

Maybe too strong.

You don' see past the top layer. You see pointless game and bad graphics.

It's supposed to be pointless. It's you that doesn't see the point.

You see bad graphics? That's your brain making bad out of the intended graphics.

PLUS ITS NOT A MEME.  There are memes about it, it isn't one.

Your review: 1/10

Ask me what I'm doing, wait an hour than roll a die, if it's 4-6, I'm playing Skyrim, if it's 1, I'm eating, if it's 2-3 I'm programming.

I'm being clam, and I respect your opinion.  smile
As I said before, they're like a box of LEGOs. They don't necessarily need a story, though you can create one yourself and oftentimes people do. I think it does get boring on singleplayer, but I have fun playing on multiplayer even with doing things by myself. I've usually been pretty content building a shelter, gathering food, mining, and fighting monsters.

That said, I realise that unlike MLP:FiM, Minecraft is not for everyone and I respect your opinions fully.  smile

Re: Minecraft Review (PC)

I respect your opinion completely. Minecraft's purpose is to provide entertainment for those who enjoy it- It's a little different from all the other games out there. Did you know if you have 3D glasses, you can even see Minecraft in 3D?  big_smile  Sadly, I lost mine. Someday I'll write a review, too. But not as the obsessive fan I might call myself- I'll write what I really see in the game, and the side of Minecraft that people might show interest in. I don't really believe that Minecraft is a meme, though.. anyways, there's truly a whole other side to Minecraft that you didn't type too much about in your post. Also, if you really want story, you forgot to add the Enderdragon- The Enderdragon, once killed, will reveal many secrets of the whole plot and what happened.  smile

Re: Minecraft Review (PC)

Sand box used to mean creative and free from any other limits, but the definition's probably changed.

If Minecraft had a direct storyline you had to follow then it'd barely go over 1m subscribers, the point of MC is that you set up your own story as such. If your first instruction was "Build a 5x5 house 3 blocks tall with a cobblestone floor" then that'd limit creativity. It's more of a DIY thing, make everything by yourself and then complete the game. Now I'm bored of Vanilla I've started to install mods, and I spent 11 hours straight playing Buildcraft with my friend and we ended up getting fuel.

Also "It was made by Markus "Notch" Persson before it was even in beta"

Well duh, he didn't make it in the full release, he started with alpha.

And what is with the Chuck Norris line and why is everyone so obsessed over him?

+1

If you want a plot, kill an Enderdragon.  I guess you don't like to be creative and write your own story.

Re: Minecraft Review (PC)

Okay guys I'd really like if people didn't whine about how 'Minecraft doesn't need a story it's a sandbox game' every 3 seconds I mean do you think I get what you're trying to tell me??? If you don't have anything else to say don't say it. I'm fine with people having their opinions but enough with the  'Minecraft doesn't need a story it's a sandbox game' whining.

Life is entirely pointless as it will mean close to or nothing after our death.

But time you enjoyed wasting wasn't wasted, so why not waste your pointless life with enjoyment?
