Re: I am learning French

Nope, I'm pretty sure it belongs here - it's something you're exploring outside of Scratch.  smile  Of course, I'm going to check with the Scratch Team, but I'm mostly certain. As to French - I know French rather well! It's quite useful. Most people only know words like "salade" and "crème sûre" because of bilingual packaging.  tongue

Oh, okay. I would have thought it might fit more in Reading/Playing, but okay.

Nice! I know French already, being Canadian and having a great memory and such, but I wish you luck.

You're getting there  smile

Although I am Canadian and speak french, and the "joyeux" part doesn't make sense.
But keep practicing  smile

Re: I am learning French

I know a tiny bit of French

"Micro-ondes"
"Bob L'éponge"
"Gary"
"J'aime les [whatever]"
"Biscuits"
"gâteau"

That's basically it. I know, I'd get along great in France.

I've been learning French for about 2 and a half years now. We have to take it for GCSE, too ;-;

Hi! How are you, I have happy! You happy too much?

Uh... Doesn't quite make sense.

Shouldn't it be je suis joyeux?

French is a fun and easy language to learn, especially if you go to France.

I wouldn't say it's "easy" - the pronoun usage always boggles me, and I *think* they have a few more tenses than we do.

For example, "I was placing them there when I talked to them" becomes "Je les y mettais quand je leur ai parlé" - which, when you translate it word-for-word, means "I them there was placing when I to them have talked."

But if you learn it through immersion (rather than learning each grammar rule) things become a lot simpler.  smile

Also, your first sentence should be something like: "Salut! Comment ça va? Je suis joyeux!" I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "vous joyeux trop;" literally, that means "you" (plural or respectful - in which case you wouldn't have adressed them as 'tu' in the first place) "happy too much?"

Maybe he thought you were overflowing on happiness and wanted to check.

But  - while "you happy too much" makes sense in gangsta English - it doesn't make sense in French. You could say "es-tu trop joyeux," if that were the case.  smile

Cool! I learned what the words are in spoken language because I am Chinese, but I've gone to Chinese school for over 5 years and I still read/write at a 1-2nd grade level (dictionaries are your friend, I recommend the Xinhua with English Translation), mostly because I don't pay attention in class (once I got a 33% on a midterm, I still passed because you don't need to pass a grade, you just have to pay for the class). It's pretty fun, though, because they also have calligraphy and drawing classes and stuff like that.

Well, it's surely much easier than a language without latin characters such as chinese or arabic...

it helps if you speak latin or any other romance language.
