how do they get featured?
how does a project get featured and what does it mean by surprise projects??

Featured are chosen by the scratch team and surprise is just random.

also to add on to featured the project will either be great programming, something new to scratch (ex: recording movements), or just be really kool! its not as hard as it sounds, the hard part is having the scratch team find you

We look for projects that have interesting or new ideas that we haven't seen before show innovative uses of Scratch.
Also, we try to feature projects that show a balance of skill sets:
- A range of simple and highly technical projects
- A range of new and experienced users
- All ages
