Also, who thinks Ratman is still alive in Portal 2? I think he does. Anybody know about Hoopy The Hoop? It's the Hoop that falls infront of you at the end of Portal 2. Anyway, in Portal 2, when you see GLaDOS the first time, you can spot the hoop lying on the floor. Then, later in the game, in a certain ratman den (the one where you can get the "Final Transmission" achievement), you can see the hoop lying against the table. But how did it get there? I think Ratman was still alive during Portal 2, and somehow, he snuck into GLaDOS's room, took the hoop, and put it in his den.
Then I think that eventually, Ratman moved out of that den and moved into a new den. This den is the ratman den that closes the entrance when you exit it. People also think you are able to hear Ratman's voice saying random gibberish behind one of the walls of this den. If that is so, then that is also proof that Ratman is still alive in Portal 2.
It might seem a bit of a far-fetched coincidence, but who knows...

GLaDOS is Chell's mother. Don't ask me how it could possibly be, but remember how at the end of Portal 2 the turrets sing that song as Chell leaves? Find a translation of that song. It may surprise you.
You obviously didn't see my post about busting that theory (it's up the page a bit)
I've figured out what time periods the "Old Aperture" test facilities were from. 1950s, 1970s, and 1980s. That doesn't bode well with my theory. To prove these dates, (I have the pc version) I found while searching around the files in Portal 2 the program that tells the game when Cave Johnson should talk. It clearly says the above dates.
Did u know that the same noise used for when u get hit by a Thermal Discouragement Beam (laser) is the sound effect they us in hl2 for burning headcrabs? Weird, huh?

I think my favourite character would be a tie between GLaDOS and Wheatly. I just love the escape levels, how you are running through Aperture avoiding turrets ect!
I just love playing the last level again and again and again and again!

The song is metaphorical, and they needed words that would sound good. I may be wrong, but Valve might just be messing with our minds.

Nice find, but would GLaDOS redo the packaging for the current date, or just use the same packaging as they used before you destrooy her in Portal? Personally, I hope that Valve didn't think of that, because knowing the date would be cool.
I'm thinking of making comic strips for Portal and Portal 2 using screenshots from the games. I might post them here once I'm done. Does any1 know how I could get a front view of Chell? I can do third person mode and see her front through portals, but can't get a screenshot from the front.

So I started making up words in Italian.

I found the date, and it seems to be scribbled on after the turret is boxed, so the date might be correct. Question is, who wrote it on? On my gae (pc) I know it said 20*0. I couldn't make out what the * was, though. I think it was either 1 or 7. I tooka screenshot of it, so I'll go back to study it l8r.
DO NOT listen to the song on the soundtrack called "ghost of rattman" if you haven't already. I listened to it all the way through, and had trouble going to sleep that night. It doesn't bother me anymore for some reason. Rattman sounds like a deranged Kermit the Frog, so beware!

I need to check that out sometime. Though there is kind of a hole here. I read on the portal wiki the main plotline and at one point they were discussing why the computer said you have been asleep for 9-9-9-9-. This is just a malfunction as Aperture is powered by Nuclear power plants and average power plants only last for about 30-40 years. If lego lupino's theory states that Portal 1 was around 2010, then we have a bit of a problem here.

Maybe... the reactors were all very unstable, and all that GLaDOS (or,while she was dead, the emergency computers) could do was prevent them from dying, but when Wheatley came along, he redirected all power to testing and ignored reactor core instability, which is why the whole place was going to blow any second. I don't think they would blow just because Wheatley is the dumbest moron who ever lived. Also, I don't know exactly when Portal takes place, but I've heard the date "2010" a few times. Although I think one instance said where it came from.

Well, I guess I sort of unkowingly celebrated by beating the last few levels (starting at the beginning of chamber 19) of Portal and blowing up GLaDOS for the second time earlier today. Whatever, happy birthday Portal 2! Maybe we should all eat some black forest cake to celebrate. lol.

I feel sad for Wheatly. He was just an ordinary core, awakened after GLaDOS's first death, to manage the facility. Then he got into GLaDOS's body and went power hungry. But it wasn't his fault, the body has a flaw in its system that caused the occupant to get all of the power into his/her head. Then he was ejected into space, spending ≈200 years in space with that lovable but heavily annoying Space Core. After the ≈200 years in space, they reached a dimension gap to Tamriel, but while the Space Core made the dimension jump, Wheatly didn't make it the whole way. Now he's stuck on Skyrim's level up screen.
What a sad, pitiful life...
Then again, Dovakiin turned the Space Core into a helmet because he was so annoying. So at least Wheatly can live amongst the stars.
EDIT: And the fact that Wheatly's whole existence was just to impede GLaDOS's intelligence. To make it worse, he was only intended to do this once, so then he'd have no purpose.

I do believe Portal 1 takes place around 2010, 51 years before that manufacture date of that turret. At the beginning of Portal 2, it says Chell has been awake for "9-9-9..." years, and I don't think they would have had a turret for that long, so that must have been an error.

You're just making it complicated. On my Xbox 360 version, in the Old Aperture levels, when you go between the gel testing rooms and you are in a large 'hub', you should see the date printed. 1950 is printed when the giant gate opens too.
Anyway, you know that turret you save from redemption? It's called the Oracle Turret, and it says seemingly random phrases. But these phrases aren't as random as you think...

To the untrained eye, the oracle turret is just a blabbering idiot. But if you go to some cheat websites, they will tell you what the phrases mean. I dont remember most of them, but I think a couple referred to Chell and also on Cave's lemons. There are a lot of hidden secrets and easter eggs in this game
