Best language to learn?

I've almost finished C++ and PHP and now I need a new language. hmm 
Preferably something interesting and useful. Suggestions? Please?

Programming is an art...
Goodbye, Scratch. I am leaving because of the exams coming up at our school, though I'll check the forums once or twice a week.

You could learn the whole bundle: php, html, javascript and css. If you practice a lot, you'll really find yourself creating amazing stuff.

Yes, PHP is really an amazing language if you learn it right.
I chose not-so-wisely and tried to learn C++ first.  tongue

I would like to work on php at one point
but that means playing around with virtual desktops

I find a lot of languages are really useful! As JSO suggested, the whole bundle of web languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP) are really useful when together. You might want to go for that.

On the other hand, if you're interested in designing components, C is a great language to learn. I once built a switch and programmed it using C. Yes, a switch. There are easier ways to turn on and off a light than sending signals through a microprocessor, but I was actually able to get the cheapest microprocessor on the market and even make the light turn off after 40 minutes of the switch not being, uh, switched!

While web languages are a very powerful and dynamic tool, I think everyone needs a kind of all-around utility programming language. If possible it should be interpreted so that you can make instantaneous changes to your code and see the results. I recommend Python!

I've taken a long hiatus, but I still visit sometimes. Give me some time to answer any messages you post on my projects!

I like Java as a powerful language, but C++ is a good language, if you learn it right.

Python, VB, or Java. Those are both pretty good languages.
