No. Like saying things like. "I'm feeling kind of bored. What should I do?"

I think it would work if you reworded the title.
I am pretty sure these would work...
"I'm feeling bored. What should I play?"
"I'm feeling bored. What should I read?"
"I'm feeling bored. What should I construct?"
"I'm feeling bored. What should I draw?"
There you go

NOOOO!!!! There are many things that only fit in Misc, and Show & Tell-type forums like Things I'm Making and Creating are sure to get cluttered up. Furthermore, things like C++/Java/whatever collabs won't really fit into anything. Why not keep Misc AND make these new forums?

Those could go in AT.

Yeah, those could go in either AT or Creating

Scratch isn't designed for blogging, though.

^Yep, it's likely to fall in either one of the two.

So, what time is the change actually gonna happen? I'd prefer an answer from a mod ^^

C++ and Java and other collabs can be in what I'm creating. You're making a program with it.

Wait, so what will happen to things like the Theoretical Physics topic? BTW, could you move that on to whatever forum it'll go to?

Advanced topics maybe?
Or possibly Things I'm Reading and Playing.

As Paddle2See pointed out - it's perfectly fine to disagree with people. That's how life works. But you should always express your opinions in a respectful and friendly manner.

If theres not enough mods, then get more. There are plenty of people on this site with lots of experience. There'll be almost nothing to talk about (I can't really relate to other's interests) and no freedom. As sad as it is, the Miscellaneous forum is the only real social life I have. This is so completely unnecessary and there'll be almost no point for a lot of Scratchers to even go on the site anymore. Please don't destroy the forums Scratch Team
It's not a matter of how many moderators we have. We'd like to move the forums back to a well moderated place where people feel free to help each other, discuss Scratch, share interests. The main concern was that misc has derailed into an endless flow of spammy, pointless topics that took up an immense time to moderate. Community moderators have always been chosen carefully, and it takes a great deal of energy to help them getting started moderating and posting with the Scratch community values in mind.
Not many real Scratchers rely on Misc for their scratch experience. Scratch is and always will be a community where you're free to express your interests and feelings - but we'd like to have it happen in a more controlled, thought out or creative way. Create a project about your interests, group on gallery pages. Replacing Miscellaneous doesn't remove the community aspect of Scratch - it just changes the way things will happen.

I don't believe we'd still want to host this kind of topic on the Scratch forums. There's no real point, the thread is off topic and random from the start. You could of course always make a project with your favorite activities, asking others for theirs

Miscellaneous was its own little happy community, and you're destroying that.Scratch'l be more happy now I guarantee.
I mean that it was its OWN community. It was entirely different from the chaos and mediocrity of the main site. I honestly couldn't care less about how "Scratch as a whole" feels.
I think Miscellaneous was basically the chaos core of the whole Scratch website Scratch itself is not that chaotic after all, it's just kind of difficult to browse but we're working on that The forums are indeed used by a very select subcommunity. But you'd learn a lot from hanging around other parts of Scratch, find people with similar interests through projects and their comments, learn from both people with different interests then yours and scratchers with similar interests. Just like in real life.

Most of these fall into social issues should really be talked over with a person in real life. The Scratch forum (nor any other forum community for that matter) should be no substitute for advice on personal life manners.
@sanddude: Hobbies goes under "Things I'm making and creating"There are so many things that I'm not embarrassed saying online because nobody here knows me in real life
But offline is a whole different story.
I guess that might be part of the story. People are covered in anonymity, and it doesn't always have a good influence on the way people interact.

@sanddude: Hobbies goes under "Things I'm making and creating"I don't necessarily mean advice. Just discussion. Discussion that makes us learn more about each other, and overall helps the community.
There's room for discussion in the two new forums. Discussion about relevant topics, stuff you just spent a minute more thinking about before posting. Discussions about your interests or interesting stuff you created. And indeed, those are positive things to have.

Miscellaneous was its own little happy community, and you're destroying that.Miscellaneous isn't dying, it's just getting split into two sections.
And guys, what the ST is meaning is that the stuff that doesn't fit into either category shouldn't be here in the first place.
Necromaster wrote:
Ah.
I guess most things in misc. can be placed in Things I'm Reading and Playing.
I'm thinking quite a lot of the current Miscellaneous topics wouldn't fit into either of those two categories. So I personally wouldn't call it a split, actually. But puppetadventurer is right about the fact that we're sort of thinking that what doesn't fit into those two categories, should indeed not be here in the first place.

Just to let you know, I'm guessing this won't be very popular with the community. I think most of the people who used Misc. will quit either now or after the replacement when they realize that it's nothing like the old misc.
We knew this wouldn't be the most popular thing to announce People who are really only looking for the random sharing place can of course decide to move on to other websites or forums that are made for this kind of discussions. But things will settle - I'm pretty sure everyone will just get used to it and see the advantages either now or after a while

I think you should have a Polls and Surveys forum as well, as suggested by someone else.
I'm afraid it'd just be a place to continue the random "discussify" topics we're having in Misc now. The change really is supposed to influence the topics that are being discussed and the style of posting on the Scratch forums in some ways.
