Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

So I played an old pokemon game to kinda get an idea of what to do with stats and stuff... It is a LOT more in depth than I thought  yikes  I think we should NOT have walking around like in the games, rather you just have the map and you click on where you want to go. At towns there would be a list of places you can go (pokemart, gym, etc.) as well as people to talk to that give you hints, tips, or you can battle them... When you are on paths between towns you just constantly go through battles with an items menu in between battles so you can heal and equip your fakemon. Doing this rather than having the ability to walk around allows for a lot more to be put into the battle engine.

And there are some things that I would like to put in that the games dont have such as armor piercing attacks that ignore like 50% of the defence of a fakemon.

Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

Good idea about about how simplify the walking. I think that is fine for a scratch game.
But about the battle ground, those are complicated sprites D:
I can try it in my own style though  smile

Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

I think I could do the background sprites if you don't want to... I am going to start on this today I think. I looked at some tutorials for making fakemon that are really good if you have a paper scanner and I have came up with concepts for about 10 fakemon. None of them are starters though  hmm

Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

I'll try out the background sprites. I could probably do some decent ones. If not though, you can have a shot.
I've seen watertrainer before, they are amazing  big_smile

Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

actually I am kinda rethinking putting in walking around...  tongue  idk... I think I will make the battle engine and see how much more room we have and possably put in some movement... http://princelegendario.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4elojf < mostly because I saw this and thought if we made something like that it would be amazing...  big_smile  the world would be pretty small if we did that depending on how many people/individual objects we put in...

Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

maybe if we made it in two pieces... one would be the battle engine and the other would have all the land, that way we could have lots of area and a very good battle engine... and if we did that I could probably get eRKSToCK to do multiplayer for it  big_smile  and then I think infinitas could do the charector design because he is pretty good at doing small people... up to you, depends how large you want it to be  wink

Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

what is your deviant art? And I think the focus should be on the battle engine still though, I am not that great at making fakemon, so I will do the tile sets... I have some ideas on how the sensor will work and how the battle engine will work... I was thinking that there wouldn't be any mouse control since walking around will use both hands on keyboard and switching back and forth would be annoying... <arrow keys-move> <x-interact> <z-open menu> ... how does that sound?

Sounds good, focusing on battle is smart.
Are we gonna do gym leaders and such?

Re: Walrus117 and Wiimaster's Pokemon Collab

I'm gonna do some tiles... so on the battle engine, will we have the sort of scrolling thing in black and white? If we do, the backgrounds will need to be in a couple pieces (larger than normal)
