Once you find them you fight over them, but just putting them somewhere predictable would be bad.

No, because if everyone has one then nobody will want another one, say an enchanted infinite use bow was given to everyone, no point in fighting anymore, and if there is it's not as worthy as fighting over 1 thing.

Here's my idea:

We somehow get a completely desert world and have to collect various armour pieces (lost pharaoh stuff or something  tongue ). The world would be entirely sand and some oases with a tree or two and some grass.

At the beginning of the game, we are given a clue to the first piece. We'd both get different clues and they might be blocks. For example, if there was an artifact hidden under the water of an oasis then the clue might be a water block. Under the water would be a chest with a piece of armour in. It might also include the next clue.

Just my idea, might go really badly.

I'd like to see tombs of some sort. Y'know, maybe someone's made a server map genorator which is all desert with a limited amount of tombs with loot in them?

Would be somewhat awesome, and infinite amount of lesser tombs (Containing average materials instead of artifacts) would make it awesome.

Like a randomly generated PvP adventure map without any direct story.

Boy, if I knew more Java I'd make this, until then we're stuck with what we have at our disposal.

If you took time to learn the map file-format, you could do it in any language, maybe even Scratch.

Well, kinda. I thought of the infinite desert world and the clues.  tongue

@Liru: Thanks for the feedback, that would be awesome. I like the idea of lesser tombs.

What sort of items in them though? Iron tools and stuff?

I think it would be kinda cool to give the tombs some egyptian-y items such as gold nuggets and maybe sandstone. (even though there would be no lack/need of sandstone it would be cool, in my opinion to have the main rewards and also some other things scattered around the chest.

But I guess I'm going too much into detail of something that was just an idea that might well not happen.

They were known for their bread making and expensive tastes (Gold armour, etc), they were also the first to discover fishing.

So if we have do the desert hunt thing, and we want a story line, why not have two factions, the one lead by a leader representing Horus, son of Osiris who wants the pieces to resurrect his father, and the other representing Set, who wants the pieces to destroy Osiris for good. The enchanted armour is Osiris's body, and we can a sword and pickaxe as the tools for both the teams goals.

If we want to make the search longer, we can make some oasis's contain clues to the body parts. That means to be able to find the armour, you'd have to search for a clue first. Clues will be in chosen oasis's.

They used strings tied to sticks, they weren't amazingly advanced with them. They should be like little cities, with farms and sandstone houses based around one huge pyramid.

I think you mean Jeb, Notch is working on a game which to me doesn't sound amazing. Hopefully we'll get pyramids soon, it's what sandstone was born to do.
