I think I know someone who could host a server for 90 players or more, it even has bukkit, can't remember who he is though.
I think its because a few of us are going to develop it together.
So we probably don't need a lot of people space.

Here's an Adventure Map idea me and my sister came up with: (sorry for the wall of text)
It is set a few hundred years in the future.
All life on earth is gone because of nuclear wars, all that remains is one country - a dystopia. The country fled underground because of the wars, and that is how they survived. They are undefended and have no weapons, but nobody is worried about this since they believe everyone else to be dead. But the council who rule them no otherwise. They've heard of other civilisations, further West who somehow survived the wars.
They know they have to defend themselves but don't know how, due to the lack of weapons. Eventually the council has an idea; outside the Country to the West is a long river of fresh water. This is where the other Country gets their water. The Council wish to put some sort of poison in the water, to wipe out the Country. However, they have no poison strong enough to kill with no cure, so they must begin testing.
They set a group of scientists to do some tests - on the citizens. They tell the scientists to make a cure to different diseases and use them on the citizens. They say the citizens are ill people who volunteered to be tested on. But they are actually perfectly fit people who were drugged and forced into the Test Chambers. The Council are doing this to try and develop a disease on the Test Subjects, using the medicines.
After the tests have been completed, the Council is to "dispose" of the Test Subjects.
The map is based off Portal, in that you go through some Test Chambers with mental and physical challenges in and then, on one of the Chambers you can escape into the workings and offices and have to escape to the outside world.
For the player to work out the storyline, there would be diaries in the offices. They would at first say how excited they were for the test and all that but after a while they'd get concerned about things to do with the Council and start to realise what was going on. You'd then somehow find out that the Council had noticed they were working it all out, and gassed the chambers and offices, killed everyone inside. But you survived, in the first Chamber somehow, maybe because of the steel doors and all.
There would be windows on the sides of the Chambers, like in Portal where the Scientists would watch you. In one of the chambers a window would be broken (since the chamber had been abandoned for so long), you have to climb through there and explore through the corridors and passages and offices and machines and that sort of stuff.
As for the challenges, we thought of the first 2. A mental and physical one.
For the mental one there would be 5 iron doors. Inside each is a lever. One lever let's you go to the next chamber, one does nothing, 2 kill you and 1 gives you food but does not let you go to the next chamber.
To work out the correct door we made a riddle.
If looking for enjoyment, aim well for you might find death.
If seeking the short way out, doom's somewhere to my left.
Though I may be harmless, I'm juggling with fate,
As they seek to find me, my guests are often late.
Welcome to The Chambers, hope you enjoy the ride,
But note that in your battles, death never takes a side...
Highlight below for an explanation of it.
"If looking for enjoyment, aim well you might find death" Enjoyment implies the food, and it says aim well which implies that death is to one of its sides.
"If seeking the short way out, doom's somewhere to my left" The short way out is the way to the next chamber, that means that there is death to the correct door's left.
"Though I may be harmless I'm juggling with fate, as they seek to find me, my guests are often late" This is obviously about the harmless one, and late can also mean dead (eg. The late Mr. Smith), meaning that death is probably surrounding it.
"But note that in all battles, death never takes a side..." This means that the killing doors will not be at the sides.
From this you can work out that the five doors are in this order: Food, Death, Nothing, Death, Exit.
As for the physical one, we were thinking just a jumping puzzle or something.

Like your idea werd. But how about you do more. Like dump the poison in the river?

Pretty cool idea.

Rab, you should properly update the MCforum topic. For example:
"Current map version: 1.1 - No, it's 1.4
Current Minecraft version 1.1 It works for the prereleases too doesn't it?
Current Downloads(updated whenever I am online): 4309
Let's try and hit 4,000! We already have
THANK YOU! The map has over 4,000 downloads!"
And at the bottom:
Thanks to everybody who has downloaded! The map now has over 1.5k downloads!
We have over 4k >.>

What the heck just happened to it?!
Nevermind, turns out to be another half-baked idea which makes no sense at all, post counts were nice while they were here.

I'm guessing we are going with werd's idea? Thats fine. It has more of a backbone in plot.
Can't wait to start.

When would you like to start?
For the last week, I've been working on a test map using my idea, so I could get used to WorldEdit.

Since you all seem pretty enthusiastic about my idea, I've decided to upload the world as it is. I've done the first two rooms, and they are fully functional. (I've also done the starting room)
It doesn't show any rules, as they'll all be on the forum page. I've named it "ButterCup Laboratories" since the testing is supposed to be done in lab. with an eerily happy name.
My sister came up with the name.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?fkuph10wjk4hkuy
If you need help installing the world, just ask - it's quite simple.
Btw rab, why is the file for TAoR so big?

Lol, I was about to show you my map.
I'll post it to get your critique.
