I decided to reply and give the not-a-total-spammer-person information.

You'd better reply to it properly, otherwise you won't get the money!

Once I got an email saying my great uncle had died and I had earned 12 dollars
I was like PFFF
turned out my great uncle actually did die
and left me 12 dollars

Yeah, that's totally not a scam!
*SENDS INFO, THEN GETS STALKED*
I get these fake UPS emails that say that the package wasn't delivered and to pick up the package at their office. They're not that convincing, seeing as their grammar, capitalizations, and punctuation is absolutely horrible. It contains an attachment in which there is a virus. Do NOT open the attachment should you ever get that email.
And if I reply, I just say, "That's the oldest one in the book, nice try."

It's best not to reply to spam, often spammers check to see if an email address is active - often by embedding images in the message, that they can check if you have viewed. Replying to them is even more obvious, and will likely increase the amount of spam you get, and it will also get harder to detect as the spammers will know that you are worth spending effort on.
So be careful!

Luckily, I use Gmail, which automatically filters most spam into the "Spam" folder.
And, it's actually pretty good at it.

I am Mr.Ming Chung, Trained and working as an Account Officer for the Development Bank of Singapore (DBS).
I write to contact you about a foreigner bearing the same name as yours, who died here in Singapore, over
a decades ago leaving behind an estate/capital US$12.8M here in Development Bank of Singapore.
However, the Investor died intestate, no next-of-kin, nobody came forward all these years to lay claim of
the inheritance. I have decided to work with you to secure the funds, and propose 20% offer for you.
Gee, that makes sense. I'm sure a good reason to leave massive amounts of money to people is "they have the same name!!!!!!!!" On the bright side, I have discovered the existence of spam Swiss pie (like the cheap ham product) in the ads nearby. Also, in the time it took to write this, I got two new ones. Wow.
