No.

No one plays TF2 in my area, and you need a gold membership to play the game with other users around the world.
So basically all I can do is run around and hit the wall.

Video games are distractions I don't think kids in general cannot handle right. They aren't really productive and are overall unnecessary. I think legitimately educational ones are nice, though, because they aren't a complete waste. Complete-wastes of distractions don't do any good, I'd think, to a developing mind

Adults have reason for wanting distractions

It's fun, TV doesn't bring any productive thoughts, but it's fun, it's just some fun for people.

and with that
it's automatic
and you uh
yeah
you shoot somebody
and then
depending on the gun
they either blow up or splatter blood on the wall
and I've never backstabbed anyone yet
I'm not good enough

I don't play often  tongue
Probably because of the nature of the game

What you’re describing is a fault of the user, not the actually game.

So am I right in assuming you don’t have a problem with the games themselves, but rather the abuse of said games?

Re: What SHOULD Games be Rated(ESRB wise)

I think it should be more down to the parent, as each child differs and if you said "Do you think you could handle this extremely fun game?" they'd say yes, but parents know better.

Exactly, it is the parent's respectability to be aware of what their kid is spending his time with. I think most parents these day neglect that responsibility when it come to thing like video games and entertainment media in general.

Books are infinitely more productive, movies are okay, music/art things are expressive
Board games depends but some are thought-provoking and decent. Puzzle games I'm fine with to an extent

Most video games just aren't anything

I don't like books, and video games are more entertaining in my opinion.

yikes  I'm the other way round...  yikes  I'm pretty much the only boy in my school who truly appreciates books.
Then again, I'm a bit of a freak. Anyway, this whole debate is unproductive. If you truly cared, then you'd do something else rather than carry on going on about it.

No, TF2 should be where it stands.  Great game, but it has blood, gore, moderate swearing, and somewhat offensive material.  One item mentions clubbing baby seals to death in style.

HOW CAN YOU PLAY SUCH THINGS? this is why i play nintendo dogs. WHAT HAPPENED TO LOVE OF BABY SEALS?  hmm

Melee was T though.

I don't think the E10+ rating existed back then, though.

I remember this one Spider-Man game I own, that was rated E. I haven't played it in a while, but I remember it being really violent. It should have been T, or at least E10+.

Re: What SHOULD Games be Rated(ESRB wise)

Excuse me but, i really don't think us kids should be making rating changes. because if that was the case Everyone would be playing T rated games that kids Changed to 10+  0-0 just so 13 years olds could play them.  hmm  what happened to good Wholesome games?

I'm not sure if this has an ESRB rating, but Spore is a good computer game if you're bored.  It has fighting and fight-sounds, but that's the worst part.  smile

Yeah Spore is E10+, for "Animated Blood, Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence". Which makes sense. Also, the game contains reproduction as a main theme.

All that happens is they do a little happy dance, then one of them lays an egg.
E10+ makes sense, though.

Still, it's a main theme and could be misleading to children as well.

Yeah.
My 8-year-old sister plays Spore.
Really, if you can handle a little violence, Spore should be fine.  Personally, I've never payed too much attention to the reproduction thing.  And they're aliens, so....yeah.  They're different from us.
