I'm not sure, but is it possible to display the content of a URL on one site when you follow the URL on a different site? Perhaps with .htaccess? I need to learn more about that. Because maybe we could use a site that we can all upload to, and then it displays that on scratchbb.scratchr.org. Actually, I just bought my own "real" website, so I could give us a subdomain there. Sound good?
Oh, and I'll go get a Sourceforge account, and post back here when I'm done.
EDIT: Scimonster was taken as a username, so I used my website, typeint.

Can't you just redirect the DNS on the scratchbb.scratchr.org domain to your own, hosted site?

Actually, never mind about me giving a subdomain; I can't get separate FTP details for a subdomain from 000webhost, can I?

I have a 000 hosted site too that I paid for, and yes, subdomains have the same FTP.
I think perhaps we should develop the site with a free host, then move the completed thing to a scratchr domain if possible. Then everyone who needs it could have the necessary FTP info.

Yeah, I think we should at least get the basics up before we start asking the ST for domains. But if we really need a domain, we should just stick with gbear's until we are ready to put it on the scratchbb.scratchr.org domain.

I don't know a lot of web programming, but I could help with CSS and maybe some JS, along with brainstorming.

I cant commit a folder to the svn. Any ideas?
Meanwhile, I will upload it to files. (Acess it from the files button on the menu)

I have a suggestion that we could follow up instead of using a free host.
A few friends and I pay monthly to rent a dedicated server. If you want, I could set us guys up with an account (We have full root access via terminal) and allow that account to ftp into a folder containing web files. I can configure the web server part of it to display a different page depending on the domain name as well. I suggest we use a domain name from http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en as they're a free. Although I think we should decide on a domain name before any of you guys run off and register one (so don't!).
Edit: Just in case you guys want to know, we host it with http://fraghost.net/ using a dedicated package (not one of the ones displayed on the main site though).

Imagine having a computer running ubuntu. Could that run perl? My dedicated server is just a box in a server room somewhere running ubuntu. Yes it can run perl.

I think we should each create our own folders and then decide who's working on what part of the forum then we each work on that, then add it to the main folder.

Yeah, I had already created the folder called "0.1" and no, they didn't come through.

There isn't anything, it's just a blank document with a title.

I messed up the svn.....
btw, I wanted to transfer some files into an install folder, but it extracted to the main directory.
The index.php had been replaced. (grr! *slaps self*)

We should pick things from the list and discuss them in detail, before doing much coding or design. Any, really.
I think we should start with sub categories/boards.
I love folders. I'll give you a (shortened) example of one of my directory paths on my computer: C:\Users\Scimonster\Dropbox\Public\Stuff\Scratch\Website\original\Forums\Block Library. That's where I have some images of the Library, and also a backup file from a while ago.
I think we should add folders into the ScratchBB experience. So, for example, we could have: Scratch/Advanced Topics/[Mods/[BYOB|Panther|other]|Web programming/[HTML|JS|CSS|PHP|other]|System programming/[Windows|Mac|Java|Python|other]|Advanced Scratching|other]. Complicated, eh?
Here's a tree to help:
Scratch - Advanced Topics - - Mods - - - BYOB - - - Panther - - - Other - - Web programming - - - HTML - - - JS - - - CSS - - - PHP - - - Other - - System programming - - - Windows - - - Mac - - - Java - - - Python - - - Other - - Advanced Scratching - - Other
Upsides: Allow for AWESOME categorization of topics.
Downsides: Not everyone will know exactly where to put their topics, and that means more work for mods, moving them.
Maybe there could be "moving mods", who just move stuff, but aren't full mods.
But then the report system would need to be improved, to say what kind of report it is, by dropdown menu(?).
Let's discuss along this track for now...

I actually downloaded it to see if there was any hidden PHP that wasn't showing in the source... All right here.
