Yeah, that darn prune feature in Fluxbb is annoying.

Well, they've turned it on. I think it's a good idea because it prevents things like necroposting.

i don't ever make topics that get closed because i follow the rules and check for duplicates
at the end of two weeks gone without anyone posting, threads in misc get closed, though. if you want to continue the conversation you can asked them to get reopened
something like this happens in like all of the forums except suggestions i think
So you check every SINGLE post to make sure you don't duplicate?

I've gotten topics closed, and I understood why. Mods feel that there is a reason for it to be closed, and usually they are good reasons.
With all of your statements...
If a topic is a duplicate, then it clogs the forum with several topics of one thing, when if it is kept to only one topic, then it can not only keep the forum clean, but the discussion can grow if all ideas are kept together.
If no one is posting on a topic, then it is dead, and any future continuation of it may not keep the same crowd and same ideas, so it would not keep its original vibe/idea.
A topic that lets you talk about "anything" is very confusing, and if you go to the topic, you won't really get a whole lot of progressive discussion because it is constantly changing! It also ruins the whole point of the forum, which is to concentrate one point of discussion into one topic.
Telling how your day was is a discussion in itself. That is not multiple topics. If I were to tell you I had eggs for breakfast, you could discuss eggs in general, or how to improve the day. It won't constantly change, because your day in the past cannot change.
I feel your argument is very unstructured and without plausible evidence.
Nice essay.

There are meaner things that can happen to you then having a topic closed. But if you want do a revolt and get banned, it woould make for a good pseudo kaj.

They don't have to check every single post, just the topics that have been posted on within the last 2 weeks.
