I'm against closing topics. It's mean! Sometimes people close it for no reason! Or for not a good reason! Like if the topic is a duplicate or something. We can't look at all the topics to know that bub! Or if no one is posting on it anymore! Well, that's not a very good reason at all! What if someone wanted to post right after it got closed! Or if it says you can talk about anything! It's miscellaneos, aren't you suppose to talk about anything? By that, you could tell anyone how your day was! Post here or this topic might get closed! In this topic, tell me how some of your topics got closed.

This is going to get closed soon, I bet.

like ruffle said, all topics are closed for a reason.

i don't ever make topics that get closed because i follow the rules and check for duplicates
at the end of two weeks gone without anyone posting, threads in misc get closed, though. if you want to continue the conversation you can asked them to get reopened
something like this happens in like all of the forums except suggestions i think

I can understand if it's something that's making everyone upset, but I don't like topics being closed if it's a duplicate or "arguing".

Everything that gets closed has a valid reason. End of.

You know moderators close topics for a reason, right?
They close duplicates because if you have two of the same topics, it clutters up the forums.

This is flamebait and will probably be closed itself.

I've gotten topics closed, and I understood why. Mods feel that there is a reason for it to be closed, and usually they are good reasons.
With all of your statements...
If a topic is a duplicate, then it clogs the forum with several topics of one thing, when if it is kept to only one topic, then it can not only keep the forum clean, but the discussion can grow if all ideas are kept together.
If no one is posting on a topic, then it is dead, and any future continuation of it may not keep the same crowd and same ideas, so it would not keep its original vibe/idea.
A topic that lets you talk about "anything" is very confusing, and if you go to the topic, you won't really get a whole lot of progressive discussion because it is constantly changing! It also ruins the whole point of the forum, which is to concentrate one point of discussion into one topic.
Telling how your day was is a discussion in itself. That is not multiple topics. If I were to tell you I had eggs for breakfast, you could discuss eggs in general, or how to improve the day. It won't constantly change, because your day in the past cannot change.
I feel your argument is very unstructured and without plausible evidence.

I would really love a mod to close this, if nothing else, just for the irony.

I agree. Mods don't just close stuff for fun, but the reasons are messed up.

Topics are closed for a reason. It works this way on EVERY forum, not just on Scratch.

How so? The reasons they close them for are generally valid. Remember, they are trying to keep this a kid-friendly site.

Hey guys, let's kill this thread through MASS EXODUS.
No, seriously. This guy isn't listening to us.
So let's just...
...with our normal lives.

Although I have a problem with the Scratch team and I'm 100% sure that they have a problem with me, I agree with the majority of posts in this thread. They haven't really closed anything which was going to do anything apart from start flame-wars.

If a topic was closed automatically after two weeks of no new posts, please feel free to ask that it be reopened, by using the Report button. A community moderator would be happy to reopen any topic that was auto-closed.
