Well... I made it, but how do I install it to my PC? I made it using SUSE STUDIO.

Re: Need Help making a REAL OS

Hi,
Im no expert in this but I do know you need a bootable disk, usb, or harddrive which has a disk image on it (.iso). So you need to publish your os as an iso.

Next you need a to put it on a drive using a special software, then you need to reboot your pc and press f5 or something to access the boot menu. Then select the usb or disk to boot from. And hopefully your os will run but this is VERY VERY difficult to achive.

I suggest you do a bit of googling on how to boot from an iso. Good luck  smile

Daffy22, you are correct. You need to download the file, and tell your computer to boot from that file in settings.

Re: Need Help making a REAL OS

I made a great OS in Scratch and I wish I could somehow use it with my computer. (I am pretty sure it's impossible) And is SUSE STUDIO hard to learn??

*smack head*
Get the live cd .iso file.
Save it somewhere.
Install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 here.
Make a new virtual PC with new, blank hard disk.
Run it.
Ignore any errors, and goto the CD menu.
Click "Capture ISO image".
Browse to the live cd .iso.
Close it, and select "Shut Down" in the drop-down menu.
Start it again.

I'm making an OS based on Ubuntu called AwesomeOS, but almost everything has to be done via the command line. Good thing is I don't have to type sudo this, sudo that all the time because i'm already the root user.  tongue

unless he wants to actually use it as his main os, or use a better virtualisation software like virtualbox

Use Virtualbox  smile

Much safer and less risk of messing up your PC.

The best virtualisation software out there  wink

If you have overwritten your OS, then no. You need to reinstall from a recovery disc.

If you installed it onto a partition, yes.
