Moderator note: Originally a separate topic labeled "Disregard SOPA/PIPA, aquire Tor."
Tor was designed to allow users to surf the web anonymously. It does this by relaying your internet connections to other 'nodes' running Tor. This results in complete anonymity, but it can also be used to bypass firewalls and SOPA/PIPA, if they pass.
Get Tor!

I have a couple concerns with your post.
Firstly, tor is used to obtain internet anonymity, it cannot bypass firewalls or "bypass" SOPA. The way SOPA works is that the websites are pulled DNS server-side by the government, and other websites are forced to links to offending websites. Tor will not help bypass this.
Secondly, for some, availability of tor is a matter of life and death. There are unfortunately few computers dedicated to helping tor users. For dissenters in China, Iran, etc., they desperately need as much bandwidth as possible. You shouldn't use tor for daily use.

Actually, it can be used to bypass firewalls, I have tried it. Also, TOR was designed for use by the Government, so the network is actually critical to stay up. The third point is valid.

If your end node is outside the area restrictions of certain server side restrictions, you can bypass some "firewalls", but only if they are designed to lock out certain regions.
And yes, tor was originally designed for use by the US navy, but since then it has become a very important resource for dissenters in foreign nations.

This isn't needed. The SOPA/PIPA system has so many loopholes it's not even funny.
Protip: To access a blocked website, type its IP in the URL bar.
