Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

Okay Jessie in that case I will do the part right after you- from 0:25-0:50

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

I think we can assume it's just the 4 undergrads working on this?  Correct me if I'm wrong.
Looking at the lyrics, there are 4 verses; most of the song is just the chorus/bridge repeated lots of times.  We could each do a verse?  And, if we have time, each do a variation on a chorus?  If we're short on time we could reuse something for each chorus.  Just suggestions, let me know what you all think.

I'll take the verse:
Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

So, I''ll have 103-133

Here are the lyrics how they're divided up so far:

JESSIEMAO
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag,
drifting through the wind
wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
like a house of cards,
one blow from caving in?

BSEINER
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
6 feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

??
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

ELISSAWOLF
Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

??
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

LIMB
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through-ough-ough

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

Hey all - thanks for taking on different parts! There are 5 of us working on this: limb, jessiemao49, bseiner, elissawolf92 and me (but I said earlier I don't have a lot of time...). I propose we just break it into 4 sections overall, and I can help with finishing touches as needed. Or whatever is left I can try to work on.

Looking forward to seeing what you all add! If you have any troubles adding to the gallery let me know. We can also just "import projects" into each other and create remixes...

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

Hey all - I was inspired by Jessie's project so I added to it.

I had a bit of trouble stopping the scripts for the fireworks I made because I had them continually re-broadcast and used stamp (one can apparently "stamp" even while the stuff is hidden. So I used a : 'if music timer is > __seconds & > __ seconds' then "broadcast'

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/fleurdetoile/2256607

This should fill in the first chorus:
??
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

This just in. We've been challenged to make parts of the video INTERACTIVE. Perhaps controlling a plastic bag floating across the screen (controlling wind?) or creating fireworks with particular keys (I could add that effect in my section). I think we want a nice blend between artistically appealing, interactive, and in tune with the music.

Good luck!

Check it out and see what you guys think.

Meanwhile I will work on this section:

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

everyone's parts look great! and fleurdetoile the match was a ton of costume changes haha. I'm no good at drawing but i thought that little guy was ugly enough to be cute  smile

is anyone else having the problem that when i edit my video in scratch and then upload it to the scratch website, the timing of the song is slightly off? I'm not sure whether i should alter my timers to match the timing of the song in scratch, or alter it so it looks right after i upload it.

Here is my final version as of now (but like I said the timing is slightly off)

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

These are all so great! Would anyone volunteer to put these sections together so we can see how they all flow?

jessiemao49 - love the dandelion becoming a paper bag in front of the moon. Poetic. The interaction in your section was almost too tight to allow for any clicking. Maybe we should have a screen near the beginning (perhaps even before the song - like a rolling set of words at the bottom - I really like your opening image so I don't want to ruin it) to alert people that a lot of stuff is clickable?

bseiner - nice nice nice job on the multi-screened fireworks. I didn't exactly notice a lag with the music, but a lot of Scratchers complain that once projects get too big they don't work well online and it's best if one downloads them. That'll probably be the case with a lot of projects.

elissawolf92 - i love the doors and the beautiful sunrise that opens up!

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

How did you guys with the parts in the middle of the song view it every time so that you didn't have to listen to the whole song from the beginning? Was there a way to like play the song from the middle?

Final version: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/jessiemao49/2263217

I wasn't able to figure out how to do the note at the beginning without messing up the timers so I just put it on top of the opening scene... if someone else can figure out how to do it, please do  big_smile

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

I don't know of a way, honestly, to do the music from certain time points. Very annoying that.

I wonder if it might just be better for our individual work to make different cut-up versions of the song (to work with general timing and all) but then set the song in the final version to the timer for the whole piece?

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

Here's the latest version.
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/fleurdetoile/2266592

If you can, please work off of this version - go ahead and just remix it. It'll be easier to keep track of and we won't have to add things in again.

bseiner - I had to adjust your timing a bit with words overwhelming folks. jessiemao49's part was semi-overlapping with yours. I think I got it, but the words do flash a bit early now. If you want to tweak it go ahead.

FAVOR: with any new sprites, could everyone make sure they start with a "go to x= y=" ? I had to adjust a few sprites that somehow didn't import in exactly the right place spatially.

Also, limb wrote me and he's working on the ending. But we're still missing a part:

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Who's willing/interested in taking this on?

Great job everyone! It's looking really good!

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

Oh two more things.

jessiemao49 - somehow the text on the vid being interactive doesn't seem to be here? Am I wrong?
- Also, the window doesn't open when I click it (and the variable doesn't change). Any idea why?

There's no way to play a song on Scratch starting from the middle...I guess if I was doing one of these, I'd use an audio editor like Audacity to chop the song up into short sound clips for each of the "scenes".  Build the scenes individually with the short sound clips, then add in delays as necessary when they are all assembled with the final complete sound clip.

Probably too late for this project...but maybe for your next one.  It might be a good technique to pass on to our participants  smile

Re: BEJJED Collab working forum string

Hey everyone - limb has put up part of his project for the ending:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/fleurdetoile/2268051

[posted to my account because of challenges to uploading/downloading].

What do you think? I love the way he brought in jessiemao49's background & my firework images- drawing motifs throughout.

What should happen at the end? I like paddle2see's idea of making the fireworks interactive. Maybe the lower keys on the keyboard could start the fireworks at the end (final chorus or two)  -there are 8 of them? That way the viewer could shoot off fireworks on her/his own. Though not sure whether they should appear in random directions or whether we should locate them with the mouse or something.
