As for music, I think it'd be good to use something fun the kids will recognize and automatically respond to (but obviously safe for school). And for animation, it'd be easier to do a song with a lot of imagery, I think.

Here are some suggestions from me:

(finding a pop song that didn't swear or talk about partying and drugs is easier said than done)

Oooh! I like the idea of a Glee song. I'll try to listen to those.

Lady Gaga You and I would be great (a couple of our kids used it in a recent project) but it refers to some stuff that's a little inappropriate for the Scratch site. Great beat though. It's gotta be clean enough for 9 year olds. 

Another good song is Jessie J - Price Tag

I like "You Can't Stop the Beat." Very upbeat and catchy, I can see the sprites dancing around to it. Fireworks is a good song too.

How about "Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall"? I think there's a lot of subtle cues in the lyrics that we could incorporate into the video.

I prefer Firework since it'd be easier to put visual effects to it.

Okay - there are only 5 of us, so Firework wins. Now to figure out how to program this.

If you have a particular idea for a section (15-30 seconds, a verse, a chorus?) you'd like to start with, just cut & paste that section of the lyrics here in the forums.

It'll work best if we use the timer. I'll download the music and set an initial project that uses the music timer. Everyone can have their section start with "if timer is..." - which means we'll just need to time the seconds of the song for the different sections.
