Festivity Song for Scratch - Singers Needed!

I was thinking, since Christmas is approaching, I/we could adapt the song "12 days of christmas" and put Scratch words to it.

I am very willing to record the musical piano bits, and scratchers willing to sing could record the words onto it, and I would then piece it together and post it up online.

So what I'd like for now is see if anyone wants to volunteer for the singing (more than one person is accepted!)

Here are the lyrics for the song.

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
The Scratch Team sent to me
12 math equations
11 awesome pen blocks
10 gorgeous costumes
9 sprites and objects
8 different colours
7 blocks for making
6 boolean functions
5 orange cats!
4 awesome menus
3 blue tabs
2 friendly forums
And a canvas setting scratchers free

Thanks,
LS97

Re: Festivity Song for Scratch - Singers Needed!

I'm just wondering, are you going to use a digitally at soundtrack, a prerecorded soundtrack (from online), or a scratcher-recorded sountrack.

And are you going to put this into the Scratch Holiday Radio?

I could help with the words.

@kimmy: really!? I didn't see...

@kayybee: As I said, I will be recording myself on the piano, just to make it simple and neat. Then I'll put the words in using sound-editing software.
I might of course put it into the radio if this actually works before I go on holidays!  smile

Re: Festivity Song for Scratch - Singers Needed!

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Twelve drummers drumming,
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree!

I wasn't really paying attention to syllables but:

7 color effects

5 Scratch updates
4 cardinal directions
3 forms of input
2 dimensional coordinates
And a canvas to set our visions free

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
The Scratch Team sent to me
12 math equations
11 awesome pen blocks
10 gorgeous costumes
9 sprites and objects
8 different colours
7 blocks for making
6 boolean functions
5 orange cats!
4 awesome menus
3 blue tabs
2 forms of input

Those fit better  smile

I said "3 forms of input" meaning the mouse, the keyboard, and the sensor board... mostly because I needed a "3" xD

The red text above means that the syllables don't fit.

The "4" line could work if the made "4" one syllable (traditionally, I believe it is two)

For line "2", what do you guys think of this: "Two friendly forums"

The last line should technically be 8 syllables, but it seems fine to me.

You're perfectly right about that, but since I'll be playing the piano it doesn't matter: I can add a note in or take one out.

Awesome menus does work, 4 is one syllable (and it works when it's two syllables anyway).

I like the friendly forums idea a lot! I think we can declare the lyrics done, with

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
The Scratch Team sent to me
12 math equations

Now, anyone for singing?

Re: Festivity Song for Scratch - Singers Needed!

O_O

There really is 11 pen blocks!!!!  tongue  And 6 boolean functions!!! Well, under operators.

I think "orange cats" should be for 1. 5 should be "5 C-blocks"

"And a cat from Scratch for everyone to see".

or something. The scratch cat is pretty important and there's only one... Whatever you think.

well, regarding the cats, the number 5 is probably the most important (it's that long tune) and i like the idea of orange cats. since it fits in the syllables, i take it  big_smile
