It's not as simple as it sounds, unfortunately.
If you want to convert it so it is supported, I'd recommend using Format Factory to convert it to WAV.

A .mid is a MIDI file, so in theory it would actually be pretty easy to add MIDI support because it's pretty much just a digital sheet music file with instrument information. Scratch already uses MIDI for note blocks so it would be nice to have it decode and maybe even encode MIDI files.
