It's not that bad IMO.
You get used to your schedules eventually, and stuff.
Everyone else in your grade is new too, and they're lenient about late work in the beginning... it depends on the school

Well, if it's anything like High School, it'll be awkward the first week, but then it'll be fine. You'll get used to it.

Elementary and Middle School doesn't feel any different to me though.
Just new people, new schedule, my class grew out recess.
eh.

It will be hard at first, but after a few weeks, what was hard becomes considerably easier. It just takes time to adjust to it just like anything else.

there's a ritual you have to do before joining middle school
mine involved burning a new litter of puppies although i have no idea what yours might be

To elementary schoolers, Middle school is like this horrible place where they work you to death. Often times students and even teachers will say how hard middle school is, I think that is to make you step up your quality of work and attention to details.
When you get there, at first you might think It's a little weird, but give it a month and you'll love it and won't see what all the fuss was about
It's not anything to be worried about, just be ready for it and you'll be just fine.

+1 to this
Basically, don't do anything stupid that'll make you conspicuous and you'll be fine. Most middle schoolers won't pick on you for no reason, so just don't give them a reason.

It's not that bad. At least from my cousin, I'm still in 4th grade.

Don't. Be. Scared.
In my opinion, it's not bad at all. I don't know what people are saying about it being "hard". It may have seemed hard when you were younger, but since you get harder work each year, it's basically everything you already know, and you learn new stuff. You also get more freedom.
The part I was most worried about when I started middle school was my combination lock. If we didn't put in the right numbers, it wouldn't open, and then we'd be late for class. I didn't even know how to open one (It's right three times and go to your first number, then go to the left past zero onto your second number, and then right to your next number)! The key is practice, and usually the first week of school the teachers stand out there and help you if you have locker problems (Well, that's what they did when I started. Except I didn't have any locker problems).
The only downside is those 7th and 8th graders who think they're all cool (No offense 7th and 8th graders reading this ). Also, the buses are nothing to cheer about. But other than that, I think middle school is pretty great!

It's actually not that bad.
It's pretty much just like elementary school, but a different school and more people and stuff.
and it's a little bit harder. The only 2 bad things are:
1: You have to be really responsible
2: The 8th graders are always like 'AWWWW!!! LOOK AT THE LITTLE 6TH GRADER!!! HES SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!'
But besides that, it's really fun!

it depends on which school you are going to
after awhile you will probably get used to having different teachers
