Re: Swearing

Interesting concept.

When you think about it, if the world decided a bad word (The bad word being "poop" in this case) wasn't a bad world, then "Poop" wouldn't be bad all the sudden.

As far as I know, there isn't a story behind swearing and how it came to be.

But if "Poop" isn't a bad word, what is it?

I said it makes them feel better when they are mad.
AND I also said they are to insult in some times.
Also I said thats COLLEGE leveled, not your level.

What do you mean my level? Most likely I'm older and more mature than you. For example, you freak out if someone says a certain word, but its just a word.

No, I simply don't like it, its immature to think bad words are any of the following:
1. Funny
2. Cool
3. Good to use
4. Smart
5. etc.

Its immature to think of any word as bad if it is in an appropriate age group.

Other wise you could say poop or pee were bad words.

Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

Rude word, potty talk, etc.  tongue

Is there a reason you would like to say that word which would be:
kind
needed
or true?

If not, it is not something you should say.

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

Re: Swearing

I doubt anyone else will agree with this, but I don't see what's wrong with it, as long as you're not actually saying it to anybody. For example, if you're in horrible pain it sort of makes it more bearable if you can swear. I don't agree with using it to offend somebody though.

Re: Swearing

Its not always the word itself that is bad, its the way you use it.

I could talk about my dog saying she is a [b word here]

But i could also talk about your mother as one, and that would be bad.  tongue

(btw I don't have any pets so the example is just an example, which is a bit redundant if i do say so myself.)

"You piece of poop!"

How is that better than saying:

"You piece of sugar-honey-ice-tea!"

In this case it is unnecessary, and rude.

It isn't, they are both equally rude.

This is interesting breaking down to the meaning of bad words, and why we say them.
Is it not?

Yeah.
I could use any word like that.
"Man, your a stupid microwave. What the microwave."

Of course, it doesn't always have the same effect because not everyone uses it like that, therefore making it irrelevant.

I swear a bit, but never in front of adults (I'm not keen on getting grounded over it) and it's only to let out anger. Never to insult anyone on purpose. I've been called every bad word there is out there, but you get over it when you hear it every day. c:

Pluseth oneth.

Minuseth oneth

I hate swear words, they are worse than spam. (duh)

Swear words are made to insult people and to help make the person saying them FEEL good. When I say a swear word I don't feel any better, I feel guilt.

Actually I don't remember ever saying one... but I do remember thinking it, and that still brought me guilt.

Truth is we all know its wrong, just we WANT to use them.

Like some other temptations of this world, smoking, drugs etc.
Once you start it gets worse and worse.

When I swear, I just treat it mentally and physically as just a regular word.

Mneh, it depends if the person swearing is using it maliciously or not.  smile

I agree with Alb. I swear mildly, but not to insult. I'd never dream of calling someone a swear.

I'll call the creeper a lot of things with "green" being the main adjective at the beginning of the sentence. I find it much more relieving than saying "oh poo!", I'm not a teletubbie and my dad lets me swear anyway.
