The most obvious trap, tnt tree, take the bottom off of a tree and replace it with tnt then put pressure plates around the area with redstone leading to the tree try to make the tree as hidden as possible. You can't hide a base eh? Well then make one in a tree, its less likely to be targeted with tnt (I think) because its hard to conceal a pressure plate in the tree.

my one is in plain view but made out of bedrock and a cobblestone generator for the door trap with lots more inside
EDIT: I alos have a monster generator room with and at a touch of a button you will have 300+ monsters after u

Make a hole underwater in the side of a lake, just 2x1, a doorway. Then build your base underground there. 
Minecraft, Redwall, and Cyberchase fan, and PROUD.
