I know someone who never knew about Santa until like past year (when his little brother was told about Santa in kindergarten. ). He's a pretty normal guy, so I can't see how it's wrong to not tell children about it. If I do have children, I won't even mention Santa to them.
I'd tell them Santa is based off a real person, but the Santa of today isn't real, and while it's fun to play pretend, Santa is just a fictional character.

It's not lying, it's part of the fun. I used to really like it, and it wasn't much of a blow to me when I found out.
It went like this:
Six-year-old me, while getting the mail: Hey mom, is the Tooth Fairy real? [I had a loose tooth]
Mom & brother: *glance at each other*
Mom: Do you think she's real?
Me: Well, not really.
Mom: *nods*
Me: How about the Easter Bunny?
Mom: Well, no.
Me: So Santa's not real either?
Mom: Isn't this enough for one day?
Me: *concludes* No. *hands her the mail and plays around with loose tooth*
That was it

I help put presents under the tree. So, no.
I also pick out most of my gifts online. So, no again.
I hide the eggs at Easter, too.

Lying is telling someone something you know isn't true. The parents know that Santa is real, but they are telling it to their kids. It's freaking lying, don't try and sugar coat it.

Dude. Relax. Santa makes it more fun. It's not maliciously lying. It's just for FUN. Kids LIKE it, if you hadn't noticed. And you're ignoring the fact that I, and everyone else I know, wasn't very cut up about it when they found out the truth.

Of course not.
•No one can live in the North Pole. It's much too cold to support human life.
•You can't travel the Earth in one night on a sleigh. That's impossible. There's a plane that can go around the world in a little more than 3 and a half hours, but that's at it's top speed, and you'd have to stop at each house.
•Reindeer. Don't. Fly.
•Wouldn't this be illegal? He's technically breaking into people's houses.
And also I personally think it's horrible that any parent would flat out lie to their kid, especially if it's too get them to be good. That's taking advantage of them. They should go pick on someone their own size.DarkerWorld wrote:
Oh yeah, I believe in a fat guy wearing a red suit and sporting a strange beard, who goes around the world in a sled in one night, yet for some reason never gives poor kids presents, or for me per say. My presents come from real people.
You are awesome.

No. But my friends always told stories of "trying to catch Santa on video, but when I woke up, the video camera was disabled!"

I agree that Santa can make it more fun. What I'm saying is that it should all be in a playful way, not actually teaching kids that he's real. And I hope you didn't land too hard on the doorstep when the stork brought you to your parents.

It is. My parents never put a ton of effort in to convince me Santa was real, just they said stuff like, "Santa's coming, better get to bed."
And I hope you didn't land too hard on the doorstep when the stork brought you to your parents.

No. After I learnt that he was wealthist (Not a word I know). He gives lots to the rich and little to the poor, it's so sad.
