Okay, so I was working for about 2 hours on a project, and then there was a big lightning storm and the power went out. I was unable to save before this happened, so I lost all of my data. Could there be an autosave or a file recovery thing in the next version of scratch to prevent this from happening again? The power JUST got back on, 3 hours later.

Hey coolstuff - that's disappointing to hear you lost all your work. We are not currently working on an autosave function, but will look into considering it for a future version of Scratch.
In the meantime, it might be a good idea to back up your work periodically while you are creating a project. A good way to remind yourself to do this is to give yourself a a cue...for example, make a rule for yourself that any time you go to edit a sprite, you will save your project. All things done on a computer have the potential to be interrupted or quit unexpectedly - getting into the habit of saving and backing up your files frequently is the best way to prevent lost work (not just in Scratch).
Hope this helps, sorry about your lost work

I save it every fifteen minutes (my computer speaks the time every fifteen minutes). Thanks for the advice!

Well instead, make it say save. So even when you aren't using Scratch, you will be reminded D

The same thing happened to me! Except the power didn't go out, for some weird reason the VM engine or something crashed. It's happened to me almost 3 times today! I don't know why it would do this, I lost two projects I was working hard on! Any info on how to stop this would help!
Thanks!

I seconded about the autosave, and save confirmation everytime we exit scratch if theres a changes made. i always * everytime I forgot to save. because everytime I exit scratch, it always prompt. "Do you want to exit Scratch?".
