I think on the homepage there should be a category 'My friends recent activity', like on YouTube. It would say if any of your friends had loved, favourited, commented on or uploaded a project. Also, if you went on a user's profile page, it would come up with their recent activity. This would also reduce spamming, as if everyone could see what you've been commenting, you wouldn't spam/post negative comments.
