This isn't completely relevant to the topic, but I thought I'd share my opinion:
I think Scratch's front page needs more things like curators, so more people can choose things, giving more of a variety. I know that's just what curators are for, but not many people get the chance to be curator. I was thinking there could be some sort of voting system added. So people could every post projects in a gallery, like the SDS, and then every few days the gallery would be emptied and you'd start again. And then people could look at those projects and vote on their favourite. The favourite 3 from those would be displayed on the front page, the next week.
I guess that is a bit too much like SDS but I just think it would be a good way to get more Scratchers a way of supporting a project. I suppose it's also very similar to love-its but I think this would give Scratchers a bit more confidence for uploading, since they could put it in a special gallery so it won't be lost in the sea of projects.

i in a way dont think this is a good idea. People who work hard on projects will be front paged for a second and then as soon as the page refreshes it goes away. i think it should go back to how it was, but thats just my point of view. I have a game i've been working on pretty much all of my scratch life. And i can tell you i would get annoyed if i make the project and then it's only front paged for a bit and no one at all looks at it.

Nice observation!
You know, I just saw one that was much lower than 10th on viewing as well... hmm.
I think I know why, though: Any Scratcher who has a project in community loving (or any of the other above rows, for that matter) isn't eligible for community viewing, because of the one project per Scratcher on homepage rule.
Sci - next time you see this, can you try to confirm that this is the explanation?

Ah, that's not quite how it works - but I can see how one could get confused! Here's how it does work:
Every time someone views the homepage or clicks refresh in their browser, the homepage selects 3 out of the top 10 projects to be shown on each of the "What the community is..." rows. So if your project is in the top 10 loved, it has a 3 in 10 (30%) chance of being shown on the front page each time the front page is viewed.
On average, the homepage gets viewed 44,472 times a day. So 30% of 44,472 views per day is 13,341.6 - so that's about how many times a day your project will appear on the homepage.
Of course, not everyone will click your project just because the thumbnail is visible. But it's certainly on there quite a lot - more than a bit, anyway.

Yeah, my latest "game" started showing up when it was down around 25th or so.
Not that I'm complaining...

Yeah, it's interesting -- we think it's because top viewed is the last row to get picked. The homepage gets projects for each row, and as it does, it adds the projects and the account that shared it to a list. Any project made by a Scratcher on that list can't be picked for the next row, since they already have a project on the homepage. So a bunch of the projects in the top viewed feed can't show up in top viewed because they are already on the homepage, or their creators already have a project on the homepage.
18th I could understand, but 25th is actually quite a long ways down!

I got lucky on this. My project, hug me, was on the top viewed top 3 before the change, and was stuck at 6th top loved. When my four days on viewed were up, the change happened and I was laughing XD thx for changing it at that exact time I'm also glad about this cuz now my projects can get fped

Aw, dang it. My Super Mario Galaxy was 9th top viewed before that change happened.
