4 Ideas

Hey!
Let me start out by saying I love scratch and everything about it but I think I know of a few ways to improve it.

1. Mobile
Either app or just mobile site on which users can more easily acess their notifications and connect on the forms. Possibly even view projects.

2. Private Messaging
Many other sites have pm-ing and I just think ot would be a nicer way for members to communicate, without making it appear publicly on another users project. The scratch team could still somehow monitor the conversations, but still make them private from other users view. Also would be nice for the possible mobile.

3. Online/Offline list
Whom ever is on the scratchers friend list, the scratcher would be able to tell if they were online or offline. Doesn't even have to limited to friends...if you view the users page, it could tell you.

4. Permission to Download (unless tagged remix)
Other people have suggested this, but here are my thoughts on it:
Sometimes random downloads appear and I wonder what the downloader stole from me. That gets frustrating, but yet if you are remixing something, it's totally fine. Maybe there could be a special tag option that would ask for the users permission to download.

As I said in the beginning-- I LOVE SCRATCH! I'm only suggesting ways to improve!

Scratch on!

Re: 4 Ideas

1. The scratch team has already said it's not possible to make scratch for portable devices.

2. Would probably increase spamming, but would also have positive effects.

3. Definitely needs to be added, would be very helpful.

4. That sort of defeats one the main points of uploading to the website; so others can download and learn from it.

Just my opinions.

Re: 4 Ideas

Most of them are useless suggestions.

Read #2 and #6 for your fourth and second suggestion. Remixes are already marked "remix of ___'s project" or something like that.

1. It would be possible, but no projects. There are tons of other [not so successful] viewers for mobile. But things like iphone can't run java or flash. An app for the site would never occur. No one would be able to fund the 99¢ per year because it's an open source, free project. (scratch is) A site may be possible though, but a lot of work cause there are a lot of different size phone screens.

3. Maybe, it has already been suggested millions of times before though.

3. [would only work if #2 wasn’t against the rules]

Scratch on!

Somebody didn’t do what they were told, and I think it’s the author of this topic. This applies to 1,2, and 4.

Re: 4 Ideas

1.  Scratch team already is trying this.
2. Scratch Team already has said NO.  It could increase harassment.
3. OK
4.  Imagine, Program, SHARE
Scratch Team has already said "no" to locking downloads.  If you don't want remixes, then don't post it on Scratch.

You probably had a tl;dr moment when you saw this.
