Offline
I spent about an hour downloading open office and adding tabs to the story etc, and now the ' doesn't translate to ’ -.-
I'm particular about punctuation...
ARGGGH
*headdesk*
Okay and now Open Office is deleting all the tabs I've been putting in for the past forty-five minutes
Why.
Ok punctuation solved but my last 45 minutes of existence have been wasted

this reminded me of a episode in kodocha(ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER!) where she had to write a novel in only three days and it had to be four inches high ;^^

I've kind of given up on my novel
Now I'm just writing a humorous novel to give to my friends for Christmas
Excerpt (it's... kind of weird):
Miss Nesbit said suddenly, “Fetch me the kitchen sink again, Barbara.”
“Do I have to?” he whined, feeling his sore teeth.
“Do it now!” she said in an inhuman-sounding voice.
“Uh, okay.” (Jimmy and Barbara, as you’ve probably gathered, were the only Americans of the group; actually, they were born in a different country, but... you know what, never mind.) Barbara fetched the kitchen sink.
“About time!” Miss Nesbit grabbed it and jerked it upwards, but didn’t take it, making more of Barbara’s teeth feel a bit looser. “This is no ordinary sink. That’s why it’s not ‘a kitchen sink’, it’s ‘the kitchen sink’. It’s got some important functions and one will prove useful just now!”
“Uh in uh huh uh is?” Barbara asked.
“This!” Miss Nesbit answered, and she tore the kitchen sink from the grasp of Barbara’s jaws.
“Um... ow...”
Miss Nesbit appeared not to notice. She pulled up the drain of the kitchen sink and began pulling out hair, various grimy knickknacks, bits of a sort of green slime that felt remarkably like glue, and some things that I don’t really feel like describing.
“Eww!” Jimmy said, edging away from a soggy, grayish, stinking, moldy, moth-eaten, lukewarm, stained, gross, “eww” sock that has been overly described, to the reader’s inconvenience and to the odd satisfaction of me, myself and I.
“Aha!” screamed Miss Nesbit, making everyone else jump. “Here it is!!” She henceforth produced a wet, slimy Tupperware container that had been lodged deep inside the drain. It was covered in disgusting tidbits that had been down there.
“Is that a maggot?” asked Jimmy.
Miss Nesbit ignored her. “It’s a food supply!” she said. “Stored right here in this Tupperware thingamabob.” (As the reader may be aware, ‘thingamabob’ can refer to several things—Canadian bacon, for one, or the left shoe that you forgot to return to its owner.)
“Gross,” Violet said. “Our food is in that?”
“There are two thingamabobs wrong with that,” Miss Nesbit said. “First, it’s not gross at all. It’s an airtight container and as such has kept out all particles of nastiness. And second, did I ever say ‘our’?” She pried off the Tupperware lid and began munching a popular cheese-flavored snack.

I use gedit for writing, because it's clean and uncluttered like Notepad but has an easily accessible word count tool.
I've been listening to a bunch of nineties stuff, like grunge, alternative, indie, lo-fi, etc. (Guided by Voices, Nirvana, Pavement, Eels)
Whenever I'm writing an action scene, I listen to this EPIC music: http://www.youtube.com/user/SuperCalebx … cCrHZAKfPI

I find it really hard to listen to orchestral stuff when writing.

It just seems too complicated and in the way. Can't think clearly. I did discover twee/indie pop is really good for writing though. Apples in stereo, The Unicorns, of Montreal, Oppenheimer, etc.
