Why not just make an algorithm that checks for the combination and if there are letters/spaces on both sides of it? These letters would be dashes, slashes, other stuff that has no use. So, for instance, bgi***odf would go pass the filter, but +/***:. or *** wouldn't.
We may end up doing that. The thing is is that the checking function has to be super super fast (it gets called everytime someone leaves a comment). The way it works right now doesn't use regex b/c it's faster...
Problem with that, is you could go *s"w^e"a^r!

because scraped has a bad word in it. Take off the "s" and the "c". What do you get?

I saw another bad word in it. Take off the "s", the "e" and the "d".

It must be a bad word if it's filtered.

You should fix that you can just put BBCode in the middle of swear words (or just sensored words) to get past the sensor. example:
s[i][/i]wea[b][/b]r! makes: swear [/b]

*, as in gender, sometimes in whitelist apps I want to know the gender of people for whatever reason. Of course the only problem is with this is that it's a homonym with a less appropriate word, but I rarely see that topic pop up (like 0 times).
And by the way, it's "scrapped" if you want a synonym for thown away, I don't see what scraping your name would do.

Um, why would you need to say "Lassie"?

That's because the correct spelling is tzu. I Googled it.
Edit: Did anyone see how he bypassed the filther? Maybe the ST should fix that.
Yes but that is useful for saying things like:
You add blocks to your post by saying:
[scratchblocks]
when gf clocked
[/scratchblocks]when gf clicked

Meant knee. My IPods autocorrecticode (long story!) changed it.

"Turd" means poop. Also, shouldn't "poop" be censored?

Well it is safe to say that I always have many lols when I read threads like this one.
Also, the reason "Shih tzu" is setting off filters is because you're spelling it wrong.
