I'm sorry that didn't work. I've talked with others on the team, and here's what people say are the top reasons a project won't upload.

1. File too big  (Solution: Extras menu > compress sounds, compress images)

2. Internet connection too slow and times out (Solution: make file smaller, if that doesn't work, try connecting from a different computer or connection or web browser)

3. Proxy server getting in the way (Solution: Try an Internet connection that does not go through a proxy server).

4. Wrong username and password. (Solution: Try logging into Scratch website to make sure username and password are correct.)

5. Website "hiccup" - (Solution: Try again later).

6. Security software (Solution: Try a different computer or different settings on security software.)


[Alan, I realize you've ruled out almost all of these, but listing them so everyone knows.]

If others can post ways they've overcome these or other problems, please let us all know. Thanks.

Could you or your dad check how big the file is? The website does not accept files lrger than 10MB.

My dad will give you the information you wanted in the weekend when he is not working!

I am having a similar problem. All upload attempts fail for "unknown reasons".

I have confirmed this by trying to upload the default project. I have named it "silly.sb" and it is only 48K in size, so the file is not too big.

My internet connection is broadband in Vienna, Austria. It has no problems with the Scratch web site or with high bandwidth activity like buying video and music from the Apple iTunes store. I don't think the connection is timing out.

There is no proxy server between me and MIT.

I have confirmed my username/password by logging into this Scratch web site.

I have tried many times over the past couple months, always the same result with a variety of projects, so no "web hiccup" is likely.

I am running on a Mac with no third party security software. Only native Mac systems settings for security.

So what's up? Why can't I upload? My account name is "efc" in case there is a clue in that. I am running Mac OS 10.4.10 on an Intel MacBook. Scratch reports that it is v.1.1 VM 3.8.14b7y. The "silly.sb" project that failed (among many others) is simply the default project (no changes) saved.

Is there any other way to upload a project? Perhaps something web-based?

Lance, no, I had not tried that, I had no idea the mailing address existed for this purpose. I just sent off a message a minute ago, thanks for the suggestion.

Another person recently reported he wasn't able to upload from his Vista profile, but it worked to upload from his father's Vista profile. Do you happen to be using Vista?

Vista is an operating system. When you turn on your computer, does it say Windows XP or Windows VIsta?

I'm so sorry you're still not able to Share projects!

I'm hoping someone can help. Did anyone else have trouble with Share and then were able to do it?

I was on holiday for a month, and when I came back(today)then I could upload my projects! My dad said it was something to do with how the network was setup,

Well he told me that he disconected the server and then later connected it again, he also disconected all the computers and then connected them again!
