Mods unnecessarily closing topics?...

I'm feeling as if mods are closing topics as soon as they turn into a debate; calling them 'A flame war' or 'A fight' I don't think its fair. I'm sure its not breaking any of the forum rules....

what are your thoughts on this?

I'd understand if it got too out of hand to manage being a debate, but..... really?

I agree with you, it's starting to annoy me too.  Sorry mods, but I agree with ACA.  I don't see why there can't be arguments on Scratch. You can learn from arguments.

OMG KAJ LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!1!11!

But really, it isn't that bad.

The only thing that was really questionable was closing a topic about Luigi's Mansion.

You do realize you can contact the Scratch Team if you think a thread was closed unfairly... right?  hmm

Regarding debate threads: Not all debate threads are closed around here, but the ones that are likely to cause arguments and turn disrespectful very quickly are closed. Likewse if a topic turns into a disrespectful argument even if it initially didn't turn out that way can end up being closed if the thread cannot be cleaned up and salvaged. (See Miscellaneous Guidelines for details for more info).

In all due respect, it wasn't my intention to revive a single closed topic, or even as far as every unnecessarily closed topic yet. I simply plan to bring you to a new realization.

A considerate ammount of mod closings nowadays, seem like a "[Mod Username] Wuz Here" boredom solution.

I'm not discriminating any mods when I say these things. I really do respect mods too. All i'm saying is that in the near future, (this goes for all mods) think 'Does this really need to be closed?'...

I wasn't going to reply, but I can tolerate this no longer.

A debate is different from a fight. I think of a debate as friendly sharing an opposite opinion. A fight would be a mindless, offensive battle over a useless, trivial opinion of disagreement.

Re: Mods unnecessarily closing topics?...

I know you won't like me for this, but I think Blackdog agrees whenI say that the Emo topic wasn't really picking on other people as opposed to the topic. We were debating whether or not the Black Parade is emo and I'd typed a great long paragraph and BOOM, submit & it had been closed.
I know it was heated in there, but no-one called anyone cruel names or anything, we were just really getting into a debate.
In the real world, people debate & the kiddies on Scratch will have to find out soon enough that the world isn't a giant mashmallow with a smiley face.
I'm sorry, but I was going to rant at how that topic got closed. So I just did. -_- No one will agree but hey, this is Scratch. Someone ALWAYS has to disagree ._.

Actually, a debate is a fight.  It's simply a controlled fight.

About your topic....

I heard zis one song, and I'd liked to have posted it in ze thread, and it's called
'Mad World'.

I heard Engineer singing it yesterday.

All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces.....
Bright and early for the daily races, going nowhere, going nowhere,
The tears are filling up their glasses, no expression, no expression,
Hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow, no tomorrow, no tomorrow....
And I find it kind of funny, and I find it kind of sad,
but dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had,
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take,
when people run in circles it's a very, very.....
Mad World....

mad world......

ontopic:
I'm getting a little suspicious about zis.

It teaches you respect. I agree 122789025% ^_^

@bananaman - I know... I can't say it here but yep. ._.

I just want to say that the minute something gets a little unhappy (a debate or disagreement) the mods are like 'oh God things aren't all fun & rainbows here, we can't possibly handle this!' and then they close it.
I'm sure that if you ask anyone who posted in a topic that got closed for 'fighting' they'll say they would have liked it to remain open.

I'm sorry but it's ridiculous :L People have to realise that debating is good, & standing up for your own beliefs and stuff.

I'm saying honestly that I'm considering quitting Scratch because of how immaturely some people handle things and how the minute something gets interesting you get stopped. That is all.  hmm

ew.

Some random troll:
You eat people, and yet you think it's gross if someone spits in your drink?
You're messed up.

Seriously, I was at Friendly's a few nights ago, and Scout stole a box of crayons, mushed them all up and put them in my Coke.  lol

Medic then screamed, "IT'S POISON!!" and tried to beat up Scout with the teeny box. XD

Exactly.  Debates are good.  It shows you different opinions without getting physically hurt.  That's what I think mods don't notice.  Although I hope they do notice this post.
