Which one do you think's better?
C++ has some sort of compatibility with C, and it's an accepted language for Apple development, as well as being an industry standard (don't know where I heard that).
Java isn't compatible with a C-based language, and it's not an available for Apple dev, but it can do both software development (.exe and .app- some way that I don't know) AND web development with it's applets, and is also a popular programming language.
Discuss.
( I don't know. Most of the threads like this end with that. No idea why. )

I myself like C++. When I need a web page, I use Flash or HTML/CSS/JS (the former for rich and animated websites that I'm willing to put the effort into, the latter for quick pages that I just want to throw together- or just as a back-up link for sites in case the viewer doesn't have the right version of the Flash Player). So... yeah. Not Java quite so much. Probably because I don't know it as well.

I prefer C because it's more standardized

C: The only C-based language that I never bothered researching so far as a Hello World. I don't really know when I'll be writing a program for something under Windows NT or OS X.
Edit: I mean, you know, unless I have to do something in TI-BASIC.
