I don't exactly get why everyone says that Vista is a failure. I've been using it for years and I still prefer it to XP.
Of course I prefer 7 to Vista but I'd have to buy it to get 7 so I'm just sticking with Vista.
By the way, I'm not using Vista anymore. I'm on OSX 10.7 aka Lion
Vista compared to XP

It doesn't have that "Microsoft" feel. Or, if you prefer, the "X Factor".

The microsoft feel? The x factor? (btw x factor sounds like you're talking about osx.
I don't understand. Vista seems to have everything that xp has and more... with almost as many features as 7...

I guess whether or not one calls Vista a failure depends on why they view Vista as bad. Some people said it Vista was faulty and glitchy, but this was at around the time Vista just began to come out so I can't say for later releases.
I have Windows XP, and my brother has Vista. I asked him about it and he seems to think Vista is ok. I'm tempted to upgrade my XP to Vista (there's a label on my laptop that says it's Vista compatible), but I've heard some horror stories about upgrading, particularly if the computer doesn't have a powerful core processor.

I think the thing with vista was, it was good providing you had a good spec for your computer. It required quite good hardware to work properly and otherwise it would be slow and jerky. I speak only from heresay as I've not really used vista to any extent. I do know that very few businesses ever used Vista, they went from 2000 to XP and some have now moved to 7.

Vista doesn't have the feel that you're using a Windows computer, unlike XP, and it doesn't have that hidden factor that you can never pin down(commonly referred to as the X Factor).

Vista is fine now but when it was first released (as Microsoft rushed it) it had lots of bug but now it is fine. The only main difference between Win 7 and Vista is that Win 7 uses less resources, it's more refined and has that weird taskbar. I've been using Vista for years and it is fine, I've quite happy with my taskbar up the top and a quick launch bar at the bottom (Which was taking out in Win 7).

Oh trust me, the horror stories are true. We got Vista maybe a year after its release, and it crashed six times before we downgraded back to XP.
EDIT: Typing on an iPhone sucks >.<

So then what are you using? Not a Mac. Definitely not a Linux. It's a Windows. The new Windows. I really just can't stand the Windows computers prior to Vista. And now, 7's almost perfect! And both are undoubtedly better than Mac OS 10.7 (Lion), considering Lion's glitchy, buggy, and annoying (I keep forgetting to quit all my apps before shutting down. If I didn't find the Unix code to stop the Resume feature, I'd be insane right now). All my Desktop icons keep re-arrannging themselves, there's this folder called 'esktop weird-mark-that's-not-on-my-keyboard-so-I-can't-show-you' in my User directory. AND every once in a while a file shows up on my Desktop that I can't move or delete, and I have to restart my computer to get rid of it. I mean, sure it comes with Ruby, Python, Perl, Java, etc (through Terminal commands: 'ruby [file name]' to run .rb files (ruby), I forget about Python, never used Perl, 'javac [file name]' to compile .java files (java) and 'java [.class file name without the .class]' to then run them, with any args[] on the same line immediately afterwards), but isn't that just a Unix-based thing? And what IS Unix? And is that a squirell?
Okay, okay. [/offtopic]
So... right. Yeah. That's i- oh hey, it is a squirrel. Oh no, it's a chipmunk.

My bro has vista he says it's a down grade. :c

See, Vista was almost a test of Windows 7. I had it for a while, it froze daily, I got the blue screen of death more often than on XP, and of course, it was a iMac rip off. I hugely prefer XP to Vista, and sometimes even to Windows 7. XP is so simple.

They turned it into their competitor. Graphics style, functions, power, and it's basically a blatant clone of macs at that point.

We have a laptop with Vista on it, and I've never had any major problems with it.

Same, but then, my computer was dual core with 1 gig of graphics and apparently Vista works fine on good computers

Vista, in its early form, was often extremely buggy and unstable, not to mention its permissions features were over-sensitive, constantly asking users to authorize this or that. I've never used it myself, but from what I heard, it was pretty bad. Fortunately, a lot of those problems were alleviated with the first service pack that came around.
