Totally agree!  This happens on way too many websites, if we eliminate it on Scratch, that's progressing a little.  And it happens way too often on Scratch, also.

Good effort, I'd like this to be stickied or ITopic'd in Requests. Keep it up!  wink

Oh, and I might give you 5 love-its if you get something good done.

Just kidding  tongue .

Um, what's wrong with giving out free love-its? This project is misguided...

The love it button is used to give someone a compliment about his/her project, not to fantasize that people like it by awarding them for contests, viewing their project, etc.

Well I like getting free love its because I never get any real ones anyway.

but which is more fair- getting love its because it looks good on your page, or getting love its you actually deserve?

i actually did, but many people pointed out that you could easily trick the younger audience of scratch. Ex: LOVE IT AND I GIVE YOU MONEY! and then the person doesn't actually give money.

Also, Scratch Currency would also be misused, e.g. "Scratch Currency Making Opportunities!!!" and, well, "phishing-ish" things like "You have won the Scratch lottery!"

By the way, I support Project "Fix Love-its," but I don't want to get rid of my current sig  hmm

Same here. You could still post the banner on any place that's misusing them

Re: Project 'fix loveits'

Is there anything wrong about giving love-its if you think that someone put some effort into it, but it may not be the best project ever?

I believe not.

But this project is just because people are giving random love its in exchange for requests or other things.

No, the point in this is to stop using them as rewards or for trades. For example, Have you ever seen a project say "High score gets 10 loveits" or "If you love this I'll love a project of yours"

Well, as long as it fits the term- you "love it"- then yeah, push the button. if you like projects that lots of effort was put into them, go ahead.

Oh, and about my sig:
Go to advanced projects, then find the ITopic "self-updating images and links in posts". That'll show you how.

Nice picture! But sorry, i think it's a bit too vague, people may get the wrong idea. if people want to use them, they can, but I wont put it on the main post.

By the way, you said it wont work if I put the like button on the main post?

I don't count the number of love its on my project, I count the number of positive comments.

As well as factoring in the number of views and the number of favorites and remixes(favorites is not given out blindly like loveits for some reason, and remixing something means you like it enough to put effort into making a better version).

I think the reason why people are more apt to press the "Love-It" button then the favorite button is that it shows what projects they favorited on their page. Maybe they want to keep their page from being cluttered?  smile

I know that when I favorite a project, it is only because I really, really, love their project.
