WELCOME:

Welcome to the Official DG Games Forum for the scratch community. Here you can check for news on new projects, current updates, and information on anything related to DG Games. If you have any questions or concerns, please post below. Please do not post something un-related to DG Games in this forum. This forum will be updated as many times as possible for your convenience. Thank You.

ABOUT DG GAMES:

When Scratch was first introduced, many groups formed together to create "companies" on Scratch. Creating large scale games in Scratch at the time was uncommon, however these "companies" made it a goal to create just that. About a year after Scratch first unveiled, DG Games formed with an ambitious goal of creating large games unlike any other on the website to show scratch users what could be done with the program. As time moved on, so did the many first "companies" yet DG Games remained gaining new developers in the scratch community for years to come. Being very selective of the developers DG Games chose, over time the list of DG Games "members" waned away until only a few remained. Today DG Games consists of a select small group of people, however only the founder of DG Games remains developing in the scratch software. DG Games is one of the few remaining first "companies" formed when scratch was introduced years ago.

Re: Official DG Games Forum

TOPIC: NAZI ZOMBIES NACHT DER UNTOTEN

Hello Scratch Community! A few days ago, DG Games announced Nazi Zombies Nacht Der Untoten with release date and a screenshot of the project. The game will be the first true Nazi Zombies remake to hit scratch and will be a side view platformer instead of the normal top view games you find most of the time. With a complete recreation of the original Zombies map "Nacht der Untoten", you will find every little detail from the original whether a bucket on the top of a box, to effects like an electrical cord shocking the ground. With a special style of artwork, you will find high quality artwork entirely created in scratch with both a basic color setup and a textured color setup releasing soon after the game is uploaded. More information will come soon as well as more screenshots and trailers before the upcoming release.

TOPIC: NAZI ZOMBIES NACHT DER UNTOTEN

DG Games would like to give you more details on our "Nazi Zombies Nacht der Untoten" project coming soon. The game will only be one player. Depending on the success of the project, we may update it with 4 player options. Don't worry, we will make sure not to make this difficult to play even with 4 players on one keyboard. The games controls will only use 4 keys on your keyboard to play. The action key (the S key on your keyboard) is for buying guns off of the walls and opening new areas of the map as well as reloading. The Direction Keys (A and D) are for moving side to side in the environment. The Shoot key (W) will give you the ability to use the weapon selected. Thanks for reading and look for more updates coming soon.

After thinking more about the controls for the game, I am proud to announce that not only will players have the W, A, S, and D keys to move the character, but we will also have an option in the settings of the game to use the arrow keys. The control keys can be switched at the menu back and forth without effecting your playing experience.

Re: Official DG Games Forum

TOPIC: NAZI ZOMBIES NACHT DER UNTOTEN

If any scratchers where aware of ACID TOXIC SURVIVAL's release almost a year ago, you will know that ACID TOXIC SURVIVAL had the same concept as NAZI ZOMBIES. Although the project has been taken offline to be recreated, ACID TOXIC SURVIVAL introduced enemy AI (Artificial Intelligence) in scratch that gave enemies the ability to know where the character was and how to get to the player. For example, this method allowed an enemy from the main floor to move left, and go up stairs. Once upstairs, the enemy would walk right in the direction of the player. This worked by creating ghosted to 100% copies of sections of the environment as sprites. If the enemy was on the ghosted downstairs sprite and the player was upstairs, the enemy would walk toward the ghosted bottom stairs sprite and then walk to the ghosted upper stairs sprite. Once there the enemy would walk toward the player. It also used a window technique where the enemy would slowly destroy barriers to get into the room. All of these techniques are currently being used in the new NAZI ZOMBIES NACHT DER UNTOTEN game we are developing for scratch. In ACID TOXIC SURVIVAL, although the technique worked, lag made the gameplay much slower than it was meant to be. These issues are trying to be addressed to ensure that NAZI ZOMBIES NACHT DER UNTOTEN will be a great experience for players to use.

DG Games has had technical issues with the scratch software resulting in countless upload errors. When attempting to upload the final game, an error message appeared on the screen notifying us of an "Unknown Problem". We are trying our best to make sure this error does not repeat in the future and apologize for any inconvenience this issue has had on you. We will also be tweaking and improving the games animations and variables for a greater experience than what was originally planned. We will be announcing the new release date during a live demonstration in the future. You will be able to ask any questions or concerns as well as give us feedback on things you would like changed at the end of the demonstration. To participate in our live demonstration, please contact me. Hope to see you there.

You might be wondering why the game was not released on Halloween as planned. DG Games has had technical issues with the scratch software resulting in countless upload errors. When attempting to upload the final game, an error message appeared on the screen notifying us of an "Unknown Problem". We are trying our best to make sure this error does not repeat in the future and apologize for any inconvienence this issue had had on you. We are currently working on a new release date to upload the project. We will be attempting to update older Nazi Zombie projects with coming soon notifications in the near future. We will also be tweaking and improving the games animations and variables for a greater experience than what was originally planned. We will be announcing the new release date on SKYPE during a live demonstration in the future. You will be able to ask any questions or concerns as well as give us feedback on things you would like diffrent at the end of the demonstration. We will post when the demonstration will be soon and hope to see you there. To participate in our live demonstation, please add DGGAMES on SKYPE. See you there.

I have an idea and fix, maybe in the scratch source code the uploading project code was damaged or deleted.  you can  fix this easy by moving your projects to another folder with a different name.  Uninstall scratch manually from your computer by going into the root folder and deleting the image file.  Re-download scratch and move the projects back.  You are done.

Re: Official DG Games Forum

TOPIC: NAZI ZOMBIES NACHT DER UNTOTEN

With the release of the game being only one day away, DG Games has decided to give you a heads up at what the game consists of. The game has unlimited rounds. Each round, enemies health increases as well as the enemy count. There are a total of 11 guns in the game including weapons from the Mystery Box and Cabinet. Each gun has a different firing speed as well as set amount of damage and ammo. You can buy guns off the walls, from the mystery box, or from the cabinet. Point values are the same as the original game. Zombie AI can tell if you are upstairs or downstairs. Building up windows slow zombies down giving you a chance to kill them before they get in. Do not stand in-front of a window or the zombie will reach in doing massive damage. Survive as many rounds as possible. Controls are very simple with only 4 buttons. The up arrow is to purchase guns and open new areas. The down arrow is for shooting. The left and right arrows are for moving. DG Games has tried our best to make the game run online, but with so much going on at the same time it might be to much for the server to handle in java player. Thank you and have a great time slaying zombies.

TOPIC: ViViD ABYSS

ViViD ABYSS released 6 months ago onto the scratch site after winning the Stem Video game Challenge 1st Place Award for High school Scratch (Stem Challenge Website Link). ViViD ABYSS is a side view platformer designed to review basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication why ll engaging the player in a story lined world.

Unfortunately because of a deadline mix-up, ViViD ABYSS had 1 week to be completed  before it needed to be uploaded. Although the game was completed in the week and won the competition, ViViD ABYSS did not turn out the way it was intended to. The released game contains 4 levels, cut scenes, and a full soundtrack that took me about 5 days to design. However the game was originally intended to have almost 12 levels, a much more in depth story, a huge amount of characters to interact with, and puzzles between math equations.

Check out ViViD ABYSS for yourself today.

TOPIC: ALIENS LAST STAND

Aliens Last Stand was announced a few weeks ago for the fans of the Alien Films. Aliens Last Stand is a side view platformer much like Nazi Zombies Nacht der Untoten. As the last remaining marine, the player must defend him or her self from an endless alien swarm with a pulse rifle and the remaining pieces of equipment left behind. Players will need to complete objectives during the assault to help even the odds against intelligent alien enemy's that will use the environment to their full advantage. The game will be releasing on 4 / 12 / 13 containing one map. Upon release not every feature will be complete, however unlike previous games, Aliens Last Stand has been designed for future additions in the form of both updates and content.

TOPIC: ALIENS LAST STAND

As of today, All artwork for Aliens Last Stand is complete. After two weeks of research from the Aliens Technical Manual and game play screenshots of Aliens Colonial Marines, the Aliens Last Stand Cargo Bay Map is scaled and accurate to the Aliens Universe. Programming is the next priority as Artificial Intelligent Xeno's, Sensing Sentry Turrets, and an interactive environment help bring the game to life. I hope to see what everyone thinks of the game 4 / 12 / 13.
