Note the word "discussion" in the title. This thread is not meant for debate, simply discussion. This means: no "YOU'RE WRONG!" posts (not because evolution is or isn't wrong but because these types of posts are likely to cause flame wars). If you would like to challenge a fact or argument in someone's post, please do so in an agreeable way.
That said, on to the discussion. I'd like to invite all those who do believe in evolution to begin.

Well...although I think this WILL turn into a flame war, I'll start it out with this question:
Did you guys know that there are two types of evolution? Micro and Macro.
Micro has truly been proven (basically, it's a change in species in response to environment, like humans being larger in general than years back)
Macro is what most people consider evolution to mean, and they say it's proved because of micro evolution. However, evolution is a theory, it is not a fact, you can't prove something that got suggested less than 300(?) years ago and takes "millions of years of process."
This is a big breaking point for most people, because evolution is not taught as a theory, but as a fact.

Oops, totally forgot to clarify. Yeah, I am talking about macro- micro's proven.

lol, this reminds me of this giant argument going on on another forum between this guy whose object is unknown (but has something to do with disproving everyone else) and everyone else proving him wrong and asking for his proof, but he keeps saying that they're not giving proof and is generally not acting intelligent. Anyway, it has something to do with evolution, creationism, and the like. I'd post a link (because it's really an interesting read, ironically), but it has a lot of swearing and stuff.

Evolution is an interesting concept. I agree with it though.

Any particular reason, or just because most people agree with it?

I've looked at a lot of religions and theories, and it's the one that's the most consistent and makes the most sense.

Agree? Evolution is a fact...
And to PandaGuy, it's because evolution is something people shouldn't fight about in the first place.

So you're saying that topics like Harry Potter should not be able to be discussed because magic goes against some people's beliefs.

I mean the theory part.

That doesn't really have anything to do with anything-Nobody should get mad about HP, it's a fictional book/movie character. Evolution's real. But religion is more flamey, as there's many different religions. In evolution, it's basically just how we are what we are. I get very nervous whenever I see religious topics, as I'm atheist, but I don't post in them-Evolution shouldn't be a flamey problem, and if it is, just don't post here.
Let's stop fighting
And to your other post, veggie, me too.
EDIT: And as I was outposted, to PandaGuys newest comment: Evolution is a FACT. It's scientifically proven. I don't really see why people would fight about it-The one against evolution wouldn't have a point, anyways. It's like someone saying computers don't exist on Scratch *-*

No. What the heck? Harry Potter has nothing to do with this.
I'm saying that since evolution goes against religion, it shouldn't be allowed.
Same thing goes with religion. Since it goes against some evolutionary beliefs, it shouldn't be allowed.
How would you like it if people went around saying "Jesus! Jesus!" all over the place.
You'd probably be annoyed and start debate. See what I mean?
I wouldn't care
And Harry Potter has everything to do with it
Magic goes against some people's beliefs

Calm down. If you have a problem with this thread, would you mind reporting? That'd save tempers and allow a mod to deal with it if they have a problem with it.
Let's get back on topic now, guys.

And Pandaguy, leave. Just leave-You're starting a flamewar.
And poop all over religion? You're being crazy-Evolution is a FACT. Religion is an opinion.
Don't reply to this, please. Don't reply to anything, really, if it doesn't contribute to the topic.

If this were an atheism topic, I would agree with you. However, evolution is not an inherently religious topic. It is a scientific theory (yes, a theory, albeit one with vast amounts of supporting evidence) that is in no way irreconcilable with the idea of God, nor does it really have to be related. I'm willing to leave this open as long as discussion remains civil and focused on the science relating to evolutionary theory, not religion.

So, anyone got an explanation for irreducible complexity?
Irreducible complexity states that a cell, animal, etc. just can't survive if it is slowly formed. Can a motor stay alive if it's missing a battery, but has everything else? Can a human live with only half a heart? Half an immune system? Half a circulatory system?

Although it's not what I believe, I do think that evolution is still a very interesting concept. If you take the time to study it further, it's really complex.
lol
EDIT: Found another version.

I bet if I did, it would be closed the first few seconds, while this topic would still be up. And FYI, evolution is an opinion, too. Not everyone agrees with it. In fact, it's a theory, hence the evolution THEORY. You know what I mean, right?
...
I have nothing to say, except, and I hate to do this, as I hate it when I see other people do this...
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
YOU AREN'T LISTENING
RELIGION ISN'T PROVEN EVEN SLIGHTLY, WHILE EVOLUTION IS A FACT AND A THEORY
A fact is a hypothesis that is so firmly supported by evidence that we assume it is true, and act as if it were true.
Evolution goes with this.
And don't post flame posts anymore, or we'll all get warnings from the ST.
And I'll stop replying anyways.
I'd like to point out that evolution isn't a fact. Micro evolution (the theory that animals adapt to their environments) has been proven, but not macro. Macro evolution has never been observed and has several glaring problems.

Done.
And it's both a fact and a theory, depending on your definition of a fact.

Well, think of it this way: with natural selection, things aren't "planned." Parts of a complex system aren't just added one by one, because yes, that would be useless until the full structure was complete. Rather, simple structures that serve a limited useful purpose continually become more complex over time and become more useful.
Take the mammalian eye, for example. Yes, without any of its key parts (retina, cornea, iris, etc) it would be useless. However, it did not have to begin as such a complex system. There is evidence showing that early life forms had extremely simple eye-like structures that only could detect changes in light levels. While it isn't as useful as a full-fledged human eye, it helped organisms react to their environment, and so was advantageous. Over time, it increased in complexity and usefulness until it became what we know today.
You can also look at this in terms of technology. Naturally, no one just came up with the idea of a computer decades ago and threw together a modern computer. Rather, we slowly improved digital technology, building upon past advancements and increasing complexity and intricacy until we reached what we have today.

Some evolution isn't exactly wrong. I do agree with some of the more simple ones, like Micro evolution. And I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm sure the thing about how two species can reproduce and create a new breed is considered evolution.
So yeah, I do believe in some evolution. After all, there is order to life and with that, comes science. Not all science is proven/correct, though, but it still exists.

I'm not going to give a good or accurate response to this because it could possibly hurt people's feelings, break several forum and Misc.-wide rules, and make me less reputable.
