Well, I thought that Shugo Chara was for like ages 5-9, but judging by the reviews, its a little more into my liking (still haven't watched it yet, cuz i've had no opportunities 
)
And btw, appropriate manga for age 10 would be the Pokemon Adventures Manga. Its nothing like the anime, and its really good. (not saying that I don't like the anime).
